Perhaps it would be something to do with an overvalued and over inflated housing market with all the desperate measures to prop it up are actually doing more harm than good.
Basically Hamish, house prices need to correct downwards to a more sustainable long term level so the housing market can start functioning again. That is the reason why we have a non functioning housing market.
If you hadn't already realised Hamish the economy has actually gone backwards a few years WITHOUT the cheap and easy credit on tap that we had back then to push growth.0 -
Don't forget that before the internet, these people would communicate by writing on the back of toilet doors. .
That's not the only way.....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Can someone explain to these 'people' that not everyone will be able to buy property please?
Only the ones that can afford to buy property will be able to buy and that's not 100% of the population btw... Despite what some people expect...0 -

They already did.
And volumes of house transactions are at near record low levels.
Despite both prices and mortgage costs having fallen markedly.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

How do you explain america Hamish? Where the economy appears to have been improving for some time (though that is obviously only correct today - may all fall down tommorow) and housing is still falling in value?
It completely contradicts your theory. And therefore, all your arguments. Especially the ones where you try and define my position by suggesting if I disagree with you, there is only one thought path I can be on.0 -
Enough are buying and selling. If they weren't buying or selling we'd have a house price crash, it ain't happened.
Chucky the housing market is bumping along the bottom just as the UK economy in general.
With interest rates as they have been for the past 3 years it's not surprising people can scrape by without being forced to sell.0 -
