    hi
bumping this thread so i don't create a new one.

i've decided to invest in the vanguard lifestrategy as well.
haven't got an online fund/broker account yet.

if i plan to own only this one fund, which is my best (cheapest) option?
    is it HL Hargreaves Lansdown?

and because i already used my S&S isa allowance this year, i would have to open a non-isa. does that make a difference to costs?
i'm then planning to move my allowance each tax year from non-isa to isa within the platform. does that work?

As far as I know it is cheaper outside the ISA as you don't pay the platform charge of £1/£2 with HL.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

hmm as far as i can see the platform fee, per fund, applies regardless of account type (both isa and non-isa).

You pay the £2 per fund per month platform fee for Vanguard whether you hold it in a ISA, a Trading Account or a SIPP with HL. If you hold the fund in all 3 accounts then you pay 3 x £2 per month

I plan to transfer my (extremely modest) monthly savings investement to LifeStrategy in the next few years, but I'm goping to wait until post RDR. I'm with HL but they may not be the best option afterwards.

They've already made some changes, adding the platform fee, but I want to wait and see if they change anything else.

I'm not sure if they are the best option now or not.
  • Bumping this as I'm looking into it as well, and I haven't found a conclusive answer so far.

    Questions:
    1) Which platform is the cheapest to invest in Vanguard? According to their website, they should be available on Alliance Trust, Bestinvest, HL and Sippdeal.
    2) Does anybody have any insight on their mutual funds vs. ETFs?
    3) Is it worth investing in Vanguard within the ISA wrapper or are there any additional charges?

    Many thanks
