we rescued a cat as a result of an article in the back of the Sunday People one boxing day. we went to the home and chose an active cat. in the same pen hidden under a blanket was a scared cat. we took them both. i cant begin to tell u the pleasure we.got from turning the cat that wouldnt appear from behind the sofa to a full on lap cat. sadly their upbringing resulted in early deaths but we did our bit.
  • Hi All,

Thanks for all the help. Daphne and Niles have now been here since Saturday and I can't believe the change in them!

The rescue they came from thought they would just hide for weeks... but by the afternoon we pretty much had them fighting over our laps! They are totally different cats - enjoying the cat tree, playing with us and each other, eating absolutely fine and letting us groom them easily. I think they clearly just needed a proper home!

I'm not sure if I can post pictures? I've seen new people not allowed but when I can I'll show you! They are gorgeous! Utterly mischievous!

I would honestly recommend to anyone thinking of getting cats to consider 'older' or 'quiet' or 'shy' and 'timid' ones - maybe like our guys they just need a home to show their true personalities. I can't believe they were overlooked for over a year. They definitely have no intention of being past it or old!

I currently have one cat washing himself while sitting on the back of my chair and the other perched on my boyfriends lap demanding affection - the rescue lady couldn't believe the photos!

Aww thats lovely to hear. Of course we want photos! It sounds as if they just wanted a home to call their own and a mum and dad to love them.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
