Passed the homecheck fine so just waiting for them to arrive. Coming next Saturday :-) Gonna go on a shopping spree now!

    Thanks

Couple little tips,if you go to a greengrocers, get one of the thick cardboard boxes & put the litter tray in that.Reason is a lot cats like to claw at something after using the litter tray, the box will give them something to claw at & save the furniture.
As to upstairs windows, but some thin chain & some 1/4in self tapper screws from the hardware store, cut into about 5in lengths & pop off one of the plastic caps on the latches & remove the screw, then pass the screw thru the chain & re-attatch to the latch & fit the cap, screw the other end of the chain into the window frame, you can then open the windows about 3in & no more.

  • Cheers Spike! I'm so excited.

At the minute they are fed on Royal Canin Fit 32 and fishy flavoured whiskas or felix pouches. We're going to start them off with the same thing so they have some consistency but does anyone have any suggestions going forward? They are going to be indoor cats for the forseeable future and will get more outside access once they are settled but we aren't sure if they will be interested. They are pretty large (not sure of the weight yet) and apparently the boy especially likes his food!

They are both pretty long haired so are going to need a lot of grooming - does anyone have any brush recommendations?

Any recommendations for good litter? Apparently they are used to whatever was on offer so aren't too fussy.

Thanks for all the help - I really can't wait until they come join us.

Asda value wood pellet cat litter,10l for £2.81...The ASSISI only use wood based,it's economical & bio degradable.A bag of that does Daisy for over two weeks,it doesn't smell either..

Furminator for grooming - nothing matches it.

    Food
Supermarkets: Feline Fayre & Butchers Classic
Online: Burns dried & aniconda carni wet (tins)

    Cheap litter:
Aldi or Liddles - clay/fullers earth

    nice smelling litter:
Wood chip - I would love if my local Adsa ever stocked it so I buy mine in bulk from PAH & am currently trialling a 30l sack from the milkman!

Rita,my local Asda's only just started stocking it over the past couple months so I'm thinking it's maybe a new line for them...?

    Let https://www.zooplus.co.uk be your friend!
Food....Bozita tins, Animonda Carny tins or Grau
Litter....Oko plus, clumps well, flushable/biodegradable, lasts forever
Groom....Zoom groom is great for longer haired cats, I find the furminator a bit harsh for them much as I love it for shorthairs.

I can second the Zoom Groom (not tried the Furminator), for both long haired and short haired cats (I have both).

For the life of me, I just can't understand why the black and black & white cats are so hard to rehome. I've always had black or black & white cats (got two now) and I suspect I always will!

Same here. Two of mine are black and they are just stunning to look at. I know that I am biased but they are. Mine are lovely, chilled out kitties.

Furminators are fab. A really good tool to have but, with having black cats, their fur doesn't always show up on clothes ;)

I think it's maybe because black and white cats are so common - Ginger ones are adorable so I can see the appeal.

I took in a 8 week old black and white kitten a few month back, you should of seen the state of the house he was being kept in, dog poo everywhere, no carpets, no wallpaper - rank! I can honestly say he is the most badly behaved kitten I've had (and I've got 2 older cats I've had from kitten) he's also INSANE And comes in the bath for a swim with me, and gets all affronted when you let the water out, likes to lick your armpits and then chew your bingo wing off like a bit of chicken, steals food, any food - he doesn't care, beats up the other two cats - My nervous male cat loves him though it's done him the world of good, they groom each other and are always play fighting, my female cat has always been a loner who wants to sleep and eat so she isn't bothered!

Can't wait until he can get his balls off :rotfl:

moms oh admitted to us (he thought he was going crazy ) that their burmese male cat was waking him u shouting john when mom was away:rotfl:

my male cats are very vocal...my boy miyagi actually has his own language (i dont understand it) but it sounds like words scrabbled up...tbh its quite scary esecially at night:o
