Rescue cats

Please take two, and please don't overlook the quieter or shy cats. Many cats are totally overwhelmed by the shelter experience and retreat into a shell. Once in a home environment they will blossom and reward you with years of love.
Black or black and white cats stay the longest in shelters, so do consider those colours.

I have 2 rescue cats and I work all day too and I'm on my own. The cats have a quiet garden and cat flap so they can come and go as they please. That said, they are home bodies and prefer being inside and sleeping on the beds! I got 2 as they were sisters from the same litter and they keep each other company.

Mine are now 10 years old and I've had them for 9 years. They might not be the most beautiful to many (they are to me!) and got overlooked but I was drawn to them - or perhaps they were drawn to me as someone they could own! They had been a neglect case and had been in the rescue centre for 3 months. They were terribly nervous and scared but with a bit of time and effort, they soon blossomed.

Thanks for all the advice! Went to see some today that were living with a foster family and we're getting them! They are 2 black cats approx. 8-10 years old. Been with the rescue for a year because of their age / colour but they are just utterly beautiful. They were very timid but did stick their noses out for a sniff - mistreated by the previous owner who eventually took them in to a rescue :-(

I'm expecting them to be very shy and take quite a while to settle in but I'll show you some pictures when they are a bit settled.

Hi. So glad to hear you went for rescues. They may seem shy at first but when they settle in you will soon find out who's house it is (theirs!). I have two lovely rescues and as far as they are concerned there are only 2 rules
1) Cat wants come before human needs
2) If in doubt see rule one

Having said that they have brought me so much pleasure especially when I have them both sat on my lap purring away.
I hope you have many happy years together.

Oh wow you have done a wonderful thing! Those two cats had it all against them...age, colour and the fact that there are two of them. 8-10 really is not too old as many cats live well into their late teens, so they may surprise you with their liveliness! Can't wait to see pictures of them.

Agree - my Friday is 14 and still bombs around the house for no discernible reason quite frequently, and she holds her own with my two nearly-one-year-old Bengal nutters who have seemingly limitless amounts of energy

Agree with Paddypaws 1000%!...The are more black,white & black n white cats in ASSISI than any other colors & the older they get the harder it is to rehome cuz EVERYONE to a tee want's a kitten!:mad:

Passed the homecheck fine so just waiting for them to arrive. Coming next Saturday :-) Gonna go on a shopping spree now!
