Is it really going to be impossible for you to travel to them as a surprise on the day or if not the actual anniversary how about one of the weekends either side...you could perhaps turn up with a lovely box of cupcakes or homemade biscuits and have tea with them....
It is lovely when you receive a card with good wishes but it will make their day extra special if yoy were to be able to share it with them...
Hope you find a lovely way to mark their special day...frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

We're going to see them just under 2 weeks after. Can't do the day as we can't afford it

Am curently looking at doing a plate with the children's handprints on saying happy 30th. Also a figurine. And a nice card too. The rose might be an idea too....
ummmmm lots of thinking to do!!!
Thank you for your help.:D0 -
I think the plate would be a lovely idea to send them on the day....and you could get the children to bake them something to take with them when they go to visit...frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

If your parents like oysters, there are many places where you can place an order for home delivery and hope they get lucky!
Original and inexpensive.

On the subject of photos - why not one of you and your partner/children in a MOP frame?0 -
You could send cupcakes or muffins by post. When one of my sons was 21 it was midweek and he was at Uni, so I sent a package of muffins by post and they were well received. With cupcakes you could have them say Happy Anniversary and be in a pearly shade. I would also go with the rose, we bought a Golden Wedding one for my MIL (even though FIL had died years earlier) and she loved it.
There is one called Pearl Wedding.

We've sent a couple of roses for special occasions recently. We used these people:

There's a rose called pearl anniversary. We've also had a rose specially named after our latest family arrival.0 -
Just had another thought - how about taking a photo of all of you holding up a home made sign saying 'happy 30th anniversary" and then another couple with the kids holding signs saying "love you ....." and "see you on ....".
Put the pictures in an album or frame and send them to arrive on the day.
Home made stuff is cheap but, more importantly here, it shows you put some thought and effort into thinking about them. That means more than expensive stuff. Plus photos last nearly forever.
Only thought of this because of something my OH did many years ago - he found my mum's camera lying around and took a photo of himself holding up a sign with "hello ...., get the kettle on" on it - mum loved it so much she put it in pride of place. Years later it still makes me laugh and I've kept it even though mum's not with us anymore - it sort of shows that they loved each other (really
). :hello:0 -

Love this! It's our 30th anniversary later this year  and I'd love it if my children did this

Mum and OH always had a jokey time poking fun at each other - he also got one of those cards one year and recorded a message saying "Oi, J...., stop slurping your tea, you noisy mare" - she nearly wet herself laughing.
Then there was the alarm clock (Argos) where he recorded a wakey, wakey message using his best parade ground voice :rotfl:. Perhaps you could record the kids saying something like "hey granny, granddad, it's time to get up now".
Just looked on Argos site - they don't have any but found one similar on ebay:
