Key fobs do not have the same numbers as the cards. A friend of mine uses her key fob instead of her card and she told me she had to register it separately on the website as it the number was not the same.

Some of mine have different numbers, eg when I registered a temp card online and the fobs have different numbers. But mine all link behind the scenes into the same account as far as vouchers etc are concerned. Are you sure she actually has 2 separate accounts? - I think C o T may be right.

I think there is some confusion here...if the key fob and main CC card have the same number, then they are from the same account. if the numbers are different, then they must be from different accounts.

in your example, your friend has created a 2nd CC account with her key fob. her main card will be a different account that she originally had.

EDIT: although if you were to order a new card (due to theft, loss etc.), tesco will send you a new card with new numbers on, but this will still be linked to your original online account.

Mine are definitely different numbers but link in to the same account. It has confused them sometimes when I have called but I was told that I must have applied for more than 1 in the past on the same name and address and they automatically link them together.

How can I apply for a Clubcard?
There are several ways to apply for a Clubcard. You can pick up an application form containing a temporary card in store and register it (temporary card) online or by post or join by calling the Customer Service Centre on 0800 59 16 88. We'll then send you a permanent card.

Wouldn't that be like using the same one 5 or 6 times a week ? Surely you would want ones with different clubcard numbers

So even having separate numbers, having them on the same account would not help anyway?

I have gone and found my fobs now and they are not the same numbers either but I definitely only have the one account and only applied once.

Whole thing has me very confused now.

Seeing her this afternoon I will have to grill her about it all. :p
