HC went through a phase of collecting aluminium cans to take to the local scrap merchant in exchange for cash. Our local village pubs regularly put out bags of cans to be taken away by the council so it might be worth an ask.

When I was growing up in the 70s (long before recycling became PC), my brother and I used to earn pocket money by going door to door collecting old newspapers. We'd pile them up and when we had enough, Mum would drive us to some kind of recycling centre. There was a weighbridge to go in and out and they paid you according to the difference in weight once you had unloaded the newspapers. I still chuckle now at how my brother thought it was great fun to get a little extra by walking out of the site instead of getting in the car :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

i had a row with some a while ago when they just came and helped themselves to the radiators taken out of my house....i wouldnt have minded if they had only asked, but they didnt ask and all that happened was that they went away empty handed and i copped a load of abuse for expecting some simple courtesy

Yes just taking things isn't on! I don't know how people can be so cheeky but there you go!

Very exciting... a HUGE new poundworld has just opened in the W12 centre in Shepherds Bush right by MSE towers. There's already a poundland there. Had to text Mrs MSE to arrange a hot date there so we can explore it together!

Last time there was !!!!!! around our way our drain cover disappeared. They left just a hole that anyone could fall down, and it was down by our garages so could have wrecked a car!

I meant to add in my long post earlier that while wombling lately I've found quite a few bits left in shopping trolleys! I've had

    - a roll of foil
    - a packet of Mentho Lyptus
    - a huge bottle of water left hanging on the front of a trolley!
    - a cucumber

I'm always surprised to see things forgotten but I shouldn't be as I've done it myself :o

colegate and aquafresh changed from bogof to 342, but silly tesco havent changed the labels.
I've just been to an Extra and bought 4 of the Colgate Max Fresh Night (huh?!) - it was labelled as £2.36 BOGOF. All others were 3for2. But at the till, the 3for2 offer kicked in and took £2.34 off.. grrr.
So with my DTD (and CS taking into account the £2.34 that had already been taken off) it's cost me £2.34 for 4 toothpastes. Not bad but could do better... Think these will be going back for a refund as I spotted the Aquafresh at 50p and I have some 50p vouchers. Free is better :rotfl:
    Tiger
I'm a body double for Claudia Schiffer and i wont get out of bed for less than [STRIKE]£10k per day[/STRIKE] a 1p find
