It may have taken a long wait but (fingers crossed) they have finally sorted out my OH's osteomyelytis (sic) in his ankle that he has had problems with over the last 31 years or so! First off, an MRI scan finally identified the location of the infection, which was within the marrow rather than the bone, then last week they spent a whole day firstly making a window in the bone, removing the infected marrow and inserting an implant, then they removed a muscle from the thigh on the other leg and implanted it to cover the bone (with all the microscopic surgery that involved), then they did a skin graft over that. Seven hours of very involved surgery - try going for that somewhere like the USA without having to mortgage your house!!
He has tubes coming out of various parts of him at the moment and is stuck in bed, but at the moment everything is looking very good and we are looking forward to not having to think about the probability of his problem recorruing. OK, it is still a possibility, but they are 95% sure it will not come back :T
As far as I am concerned the NHS is wonderful!

we are VERY lucky to have a national health service that we do not have to pay for.
Sorry, but whilst we might not get a bill at the point of service delivery, we shouldn't forget that we all pay an absolute packet in taxes both direct and indirect to keep the NHS afloat. I agree we are fortunate things are run this way, but it certainly isn't free.Hope is not a strategy.0 -

There may be minor differences, but I'd have thought you'd be ok. I buy Tesco or Asda's own, they're cheaper.Hope is not a strategy.0 -

dan (boss) often does "lucky boxes" where the staff fill up a box with anything left over, and sell them for £1 a box. limited to one per order. though there was cous cous mountain a while back :rotfl:.life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0 -
