Never received a water bill.......

in Water bills
Ok, need some advice/views on this one...
We moved into our house two years ago. It was a redevelopment of an old building that had never previously been used for a dwelling. (Old coach house).
We are now looking to sell it but have never received a visit from a supplier or a bill for any of the water we have used during this time.
I have telephoned every water supplier and NO ONE has us on their books! They don't know who we are, yet we turn on our taps and water pours out.
All the neighbours are with Severn Trent.
Great you may say, however, this could mess up the sale of our house.
What should we do? All suggestions welcome.

I can't offer you much help on this one - but we have exactly the same problem! The houses were built 2 years ago (replacing old houses - half sold, half housing association) despite several phone calls and mails we STILL haven't had a water bill! I know there is a meter SOMEWHERE but to be honest the figures would be a total mystery to me anyway...
I have sent yet another mail today to the water company and if that fails I'll send recorded letters because getting a huge water bill is giving me nightmares! You'd think they would WANT us to pay them... *sigh*DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Similar problem, we used to have bills, but water company changed, now although we contacted them they have no record of us, the person on the phone tried a number of options, address, PCode, name etc, surely there must be a legal position re liability for the bill...can anyone help?0

Well I finally got a letter from Thames Water...
Was it a nice "thanks for wanting to pay us!" kind of letter? Nope...
"Call us NOW or we will cut off your water supply!"... Imagine my mood when I read that! I have been trying for goodness knows how long and my partner before that to convince them that YES the address of our house was demolished a few years ago as part or re-development... BUT IT WAS REBUILT! So instead of a polite letter I get a threatening nasty letter making out that we have neglected to inform them of the fact that the property was rebuilt... Alledgedly someone from customer complaints will call me back tomorrow morning (as I was in a massive meeting today and wouldn't have been reachable on the phone) to discuss. I swear I was absolutely FUMING!
I am TRYING to pay them and until now they have refused to admit the property even exsist! So anyway tomorrow they will get a pre-menstrual Miss tine on the phone so hope they are wearing ear guards!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Contact the water council - http://www.ccwater.org.uk/ and raise it as a complaint.
If you have anything in writing it will be easier to prove that you have tried to pay.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Hello laingy
I've just been dealing with the same problem and found out that if it is the fault of the supplier that you have never been billed, then they can only back bill you 12 months. I found this on the energy watch website.
Cheers (from the wirral too.)0 -
Thanks Hellie that's good to know we were in a property for 2 years (2 years ago) filled in the form and sent it back and never got a bill.
Now 4 years down the line they have sent a bill for the whole 2 years supply that we were there for, even though we never got one bill.0
