Too Dense

I am newish here. I myself found there was a lot of clutter, but after short time my eyes and brain have learned what a lot of it means and prioritises what I am looking at.
For instance, the green and red dots - they looked like part of the confusion. But now I know green means user online and red means offline, they are no longer confusing and have stopped looking like clutter. My brain is just phasing it out unless I want to know.
I promise you that it gets easier, and then the business turns into either ignorable by your brain automatically, or, terribly helpful feature.
I am finding people here among the most helpful I have come across in a forum.
If you do mess around in the options panel, of the User CP (user control panel) on the green bar, you can truly make it less busy.
THIS HELPS.
Try going to "options" in the panel on the left of USER CP.
Scroll down to message editor box at the bottom of options and select basic, then you don't get the massive font in the replies - that soothes out a lot of the process.
IN OPTIONS ALSO you can select to view more posts at once, so less clicking through - I am on 40 now.
IN OPTIONS you can select to add any threads that you post in, to subscribe list that will appear in CP USER panel.
ALSO You could also change the 'thread display mode' and see if you get a plainer look.
VERY PLAIN VIEW From the thread tools on green bar at top of all threads - select 'view printable version' that will enable you to read just the words and not the busy prettiness.
ALSO THREAD TOOLS ON GREEN BAR AT TOP OF THREAD you can 'Subscribe to thread' so it appears in your CP User panel. Then you can keep up to date with discussions you have joined in or read with interest.
SUBSCRIBE TO FORUM.
When you find a forum you like, and not wanting to go through all the hoops to get to it again - so if you have an interest in say EBAY and find an area that deals with that, just subscribe to the forums of use to you - hey presto, you can get to them through USER CP panel.
By doing that, you narrow the journey and just get from the forums what you want - sort of like having shortcuts, and not going round all the houses in a town you don't know.
TWO AREAS TO MASTER
Find your way round USER CP page, and you have your personal dashboard learned, from there you roam out, but return to choose your settings, plot your path and go to subscribed areas.
QUICK LINKS a drop down dashboard that one really.
I have only been here a few days and have gone from feeling overwhelmed and a bit lost with it all, to being able to offer advice and reassurance - stick around and see if it gets better. xxNo debts. The fact is that the Strange One is a miserable troll that is ungrateful for any advice offered. This is one example.
I am going to disagree with you, but very politely and try to be helpful.
If Strangetron has ADD and is possibly somewhere on the autistic spectrum (lots of people are) there is probably no malicious intention in what he is saying.
Some people are wired up differently and they just say what they think and do not realise it can offend people. His name is very honest, think of Spock from Star Trek, he could come across as dour online, but we know he is different and special.
Don't take offence to me please, and don't take offence to Strangetron, he may not be a Victor Meldrew or rude, he may just exist on his own level with a different code and scale. There is room for everyone if we extend some understanding that not everyone does dancing emoticons to cushion words.

LMFFAO - Now I am going to disagree with myself. That thread on cheap food is one of the funniest things I have read for ages.
He may be pulling our legs, as another posibility. In which case he is laughing quite a lot with his dead pan Victor Meldrew posts.
No one gets hurt do they? When someone like Strangetron comes along and posts like he has for whatever reason, what usually happens is lots of helpful people post up all manner of useful responses and anyone wanting nutritional and inexpensive advice gets to read it.
God I love this bunch of forums!
There are allsorts of things going on in here.
Strangetron, if you don't like my helpful post, I shall blow raspberries at you because someone new will make use of it.
What is probably best is that I send you some nice broccolli bake in the post and you stick it in the microwave. Free food!No debts. No credit cards. No store cards. No mortgage. No CCJs. Thanked you for the last part of the post as it made my day lol,
No, no 1 was hurt but when so many people gave so many helpful answers it annoys me when he rejects them/ comes up with a reason why the reply isnt suitable.0 -
:::: Whispers::::
Do you think he is real?
He either has his mood thermometer permanently set to TSK, or, he is someone enjoying complaining for internet gigglez.
I am picturing Kryton out of Red Dwarf dressed as Neil out of the Young Ones egged on by Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh.
Were there some good recipes in the end?No debts. No credit cards. No store cards. No mortgage. No CCJs. High credit rating intact. Living frugally. Want to start business soon. Its hard to tell if he was for real or not, sounds like he has other issues apart from being picky. I feel sorry for anyone who know him a sit must be a nightmare eating out.
Yes i felt there were some good suggestions.0
