Well the mortgage free journey has kickstarted - made first overpyament of £525! Clarified with the mortgage company and the overpayment limit is 10% of the mortgage balance when the product balance not 10% of the yearly outstandaing balance as I had initially thought - so that means £18750 per year (Although we will never pay off that much per year lol)

I was suprised how much we were able to pay off this month as we had some expensive vet bills lol Getting some money back for those bills when the insurance comes through. We are aiming to pay off £6000 this year which is £500 a month, so this month we paid more than our monthly aim :D

    Yay!

Well today is a day of targets!

Target 1. Another overpayment of £620 to the mortgage this month :D Again surpassing our monthly goal! YAY!

Target 2. Both ISAs now filled to capacity which makes our savings pot very healthy looking and me very happy!

There have been some expensive vet bills again this monthly (silly animals!) but there are insurance claims pending so we/ll some of that money back which is good :)

DH finally put his savings asisde so another £300 for Marchs overpayments! So for the third month in a row we have beaten our target - not bad :)

Got a letter from the mortgage company - we have now overpayed £1700 since January and our monthly payments have dropped by £6 a month - not much but its a start!

Todays task was to open new ISA for 2013/14 and thats now done - because the amount is an emergency fund I couldn't put it in something fixed term so the rate is abit pants but better than nothing. Not sure we'll be able to fill both ISAs this year and continue with current level of overpayments, but you never know do you! Better to be paying off the mortgage anyway as rate on mortgage is higher than ISA saving rate but i want to keep up some savings into ready access account - so we'll see what 2013/14 has in store for us!

Well today I finally got the letter confirming our most recent overpayment and I'm so happy with the balance

When we took out our mortgage in Dec 2011 we started owing £188, 673.69.....................by the time we got out Dec 2012 statement we owed 184,009.62 (so 4664.07 paid off in 12 months)...........its now March 2013 and our most recent statement is 180,639.42 (so 3370.20 paid off in only three months) and we've cut our monthly payment by £6 in the same three months........................i'm amazed how much difference its made to our balance already and i feel like we've barely overpaid anything really................its really encouraged me to keep going especially as now as soon as the normal payment comes out next week we'll be sub 180k! hurrah

Hi jackies, looks like your going great guns now :)

I too have a bit of a toiletry issue, I was stunned at how much stuff I had but have slowly started using them up, I have to admit to feeling a sense of pride at having to stick with it every time I finishe a bottle of something, I'm noticing body lotion takes ages to use ( and I just happen to have tonnes of the stuff) but slowly we are getting there

Can I just ask, what kind of newt do you have? Is it a smooth or palmate? Or are you one very lucky lady and have a great crested ? I have to admit I remember many a wonderful night saving great crested newts and translocating them to new ponds, although to be fair with the way newts are they will no doubt try and get back to their birth pond :)

Good luck on your journey, how's the bunnies settling ?

Incidentally I should point out that any work I have ever had the privaledge to do with newts has been done so under guidance of fully qualified rescue staff and should never be attempted without the proper things in place, particularly any work with the great crested as it is Britons most vulnerable species of amphibian, and is in fact a protected species under U.K and European law

Just incase anyone thought I randomly translocated newts :);):)

Has to be post of the day, surely :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

The bunnies are very settled thanks - currently taking over out whole dining room but hopefully will be bonded back together in a few weeks time!

Am slowly but surely working my way through my toiletries - I'm amazed how much I seem to have!
