I will never, ever understand why billions have been spent on a bunch of games, the sole aim of which is to find the best runner/swimmer/ballthrower. WHO CARES?? And WHY?? why on earth do people care?? Sure a bit of light entertainment but hardly worth 9 BILLION of taxpayers money!!!
Complete and utter waste of time and money. Isn't there enough bloody tourism in London? We hardly need moreHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

You must be a real laugh at parties. "You've spent £1.50 on Doritos? Why?" etc etc
Plenty of people are interested in the Olympics and will have a great time watching it on TV or at the events. Just because you don't think it's worthwhile doesn't mean others agree.0 -

No,we shouldnt do it because the money could of been spent in far better areas. If I came on here complaining I was 100k in debt then said Im throwing a birthday party for my daughter costing 20k people would say I was bonkers.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

The( horribly expensive ) information signs on the M5 at Taunton are already spouting platitudes about making sure you plan your journey for Olympic Events to make sure you arrive in time ......
Will be so glad when the whole damn thing is over and done with. I won't be watching.0 -
I feel a bit sorry for all the people who really wanted tickets to the olympics who tried and didn't get them now that there are seemingly endless competitions and ticket give-aways demonstrating how many were held back for sponsors.0

Thats because you would get no return on your £20K. At least with the Olympics the increase in tourism and such like will bring money into the economy.

Swings and roundabouts - there is already a great concern that the Olympics will deter the usual tourists who would have visited.
Theatre bookings are well down and lots of other businessess are seriously worried about the potential loss of tourist trade. If visitors only spend money in the venues ( likely) then the big international sponsors will benefit at the expense of many small London tradersJeff_Bridges_hair wrote: »No one moaned when we won the bloody thing back in 2005 did they?? Yes they did!0 -

If those doritos cost billions of pounds and were served only to people in a city hundreds of miles away from me, hell yeah I'd ask why!
Even then, they would provide food for someone. The olympics provides NOTHING for me and millions of others, on the contrary, it actually COSTS me.
Does not benefit anyone. Except maybe Mr XYZ who won a shiny medal for being a good runner, he could flog that on ebay some dayHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
