Morrisons teabags for me so far. They were vile.0

Sainsburys basics weetabix....yuck! I think the box would have tasted better with milk!0

The worst value product I have ever bought was Tesco Value stewing steak, it was absolutely inedible, tough as old boots and full of gristle
I should have given up at the stage where I was trying to chop it up before cooking it, and the knife would barely go through it but I persevered, and sorry to say it ended up in the bin after attempting to eat it. Ugh. Never again. 0 -
Cheap cling film for us too; we try not to use the stuff too much and then when it came to wrap something up to take to a pot luck it wouldn't cling to anything!
A couple of years ago I bought Sainsburys value cheese and onion pasties and they were absolutely vile.
A (student) friend once fed me a curry with value curry sauce (Sainsburys, I think) and it was awful IMO. Curry is hardly expensive to make from scratch, anyway.0 -

I'm thinking of going down this route... it seems cheaper too, but can you taste the difference in bolognase/shepherds pie?0 -
As there is 1 non meat eater in the house we used to buy sainsburys own brand gravy(onion variety i think) but as it was so weak we ditched it and went for the bisto onion gravy which is suitable for vegetarians.0

I buy 500g packs of British veal mince from Waitrose whenever they're on offer to use for (in my case) spagless bog otherwise Lidl's Strathvale British mince 1.89. The worst mince in the world is the Iceland frozen mince, it looks like extruded cattle food and falls apart into sand-like grains when cooked.
IMO none of the UK clingfilms are as good as Saran wrap from USA/Canada.
Morrisons fennel and nettle teabags aren't great. Lord Nelson Earl Grey, Rooibos and peppermint teas from Lidl are great.Used to like Co-op 99 teabags but now I've stopped using sweeteners don't like it. Like Brooke Bond Taj Mahal tea (No 1 bestseller in India) much better.
I'd use cheap cheese in cooked dishes but not for OH's rolls.0 -
During winter I was going through alot of hot chocolate, so thought I'd try Asda's smart price chosen by you hot drinking chocolate . . . . Never again - so much sugar in the box, not even ground into the powdered chocolate, and when made was also very sweet that had to chuck it after our first cup. The kids hated it and so did I - and we are not that fussy when it comes to hot chocolate. Just used the branded ones at the local pound shop until I found an offer and then bought in bulk!0

Pound Lands binbags didn't do well with me, they ripped more than seperated when pulled apart and twice my rubbish went straight through the bottom of the bag when I dropped an empty can or ltr milk carton into it. I found the Iceland £1 binbag work very well and have the taper closer which is handy.
As for other brands, Iceland loo roll is pretty good at £1 for 4, they are strong enough for most things, don't fall apart nor do you need an arm full to get clean. I'm always trying new things to cut some pennies out, but so far the iceland loo roll has won out over the big fours own brands and their 'cheap' ranges.
We found a lot of cheap loo roll can have a 'clumping' problem, leaving bits of paper all over the show for both men and women. Then again I once treated myself to a pack of Andrex as it was on offer and had a lot of problems in that department! No a nice thing to happen!~"I don't cook so much since we moved out of reality...."~0 -

Where did Lidl's Rooibos teabags go? None of the stores round here have them any more. They had some flavoured ones on special a long while ago but they were quite a bit more expensive.
Asda's own brand is the one I go for and for £1 for 40 bags it's good value. Same goes for their peppermint teas.0
