  • Just thought i would pop in and say hello. Ive not bought food since last monday, when i bought a sandwich. It has been really hard for me, but i have managed to resist. We have run out of a couple of things, e.g butter, fruit and just a bit of salad left, but as i am trying to live mainly out of my freezer and cupboards this month, we are using cream cheese instead, as there is about 4 tubs in the fridge and as for fruit, are using tinned stuff in juice, with greek yoghurt - I know its not the same, but this stuff really needs to get used. Ive never thought that i would do this still not sure i will, but only have 2 weeks left, although i might go to end of month, so it is doable. Hope everyone else is doing well

I made a VERY rare visit to M&S last week and their own CC were reduced from £2.99 to 99p for 20 :D

I LOVE the Dr Beckman cloth you can use 30 times but no where here stocks it anymore :(

is this the one? I am not sure if the cost is good or not, but its free p and p

    Yes, that's the one :T

It's a fab product and very MSE because when you cant use it any more to absorb colour, you can use it as a cloth!

They were under £3.00 when Sainsbugs used to stock them.

They are available a bit cheaper direct from Dr Beckmann but have to spend (I think) £15 to get free P&P from there.

Aldi had them as a "special" a couple of months back but I'd need to a taxi there and back which would sort of defeat the object of the excercise :rotfl:

They work out at £4.68 on this site too (after P&P and VAT) http://www.acdomart.co.uk/product_thumb.php?limit=100&d=&c=&b=dr-beckmann&o=&ord=
The Dr Beckmann site says Wilk**sons stock them too

I hope you don't mind me butting in here.:)
I am rather allergic to bites and my legs always swell badly. Other than antihistamine, the other thing that relieves them quickly is ice - rub some ice/frozen peas etc wrapped in a teatowel over them for a while. It definitely helps me.
Had a NSD today and did a freezer inventory (we have 3 freezers) - we have enough 'main meal' bits and pieces to last a couple of months I think.

Thanks very much JJ - that's really good to know. I've been buying the Life Systems ecological repellent (made with lots of different essential oils and no deet!) but it's really expensive. I'm near a Home Bargains on Tuesday, so will pop in and have a look.

Soworried - thanks for your good wishes. My legs are ok when they're up, but hurt like crazy when I put them to the floor. Mr CB has been very busy today, making cups of tea and lunch! :D

We did go to Mr M this morning - very busy! It used to be quiet on a Sunday morning! I bought some Lake Dist cheese on special offer - £2 a pack, so bought 4 and froze 3. That money will come out of the 2nd purse. £28.76 spent on fruit, veg, milk & a few bits & pieces. I also spent £12 on 3 bottles of wine for next weekend, when I'm away with the girls, but that doesn't come out of the grocery budget!:p:D

Need to update sig. Hoping to stay on track for the month, but I'm a bit worried about how much has been spent already!

Have a good evening all CBx :)

    Hi everyone
I'd like to join you in this challenge. I've cut out pretty much all my unnecessary spending but too much money is going on food every month. Honestly I have no idea how much I do spend but its got to be at least £200 which for one person is a bit much. Have been collecting food receipts since the beginning of the month so I can work out my starting point and cut down from there.

What I have realised is that I do my own little version of supermarket sweep when I go shopping - I take a route that starts at waitrose, via m&s to sainsburys supposedly on the hunt for reduced food and offers. The reality is that I buy things I don't need and lots of little treats. I'm also a mid week regular at the co-op and at about £10 a time its getting expensive!

    Overdraft -

    Evening everyone!

4 NSDs in a row and I was feeling so pleased with myself until today. Just cleaning my new cooker after Sunday Dinner and accidentally dropped and smashed :mad::eek::mad: the main oven inner glass door. It went with a bang into hundreds of tiny pieced. Ooooh I am so annoyed with myself, a new one will cost around £52 including delivery. So much for my no spend days:(

Have just finished making a dozen sourdough bread rolls and will have to bake them in the small top oven.

I need to get milk tomorrow and was going to do a bit more baking, but may have to put that on hold until the new inner door arrives:(

2 NSDs for me :) so at least the spending this week hasn't got any worse ;)

We went out for dinner today with my parents as it's Mam's birthday and Dad paid for everything :T
