The sun is shining, it's a gorgeous day, and I got bitten so badly in the garden yesterday that both ankles are twice the size and blistering! Grrr! I'll be sat indoors in the shade with my feet up today. Need to find the insect repellent - I have the same problem every May, and always get bitten before I remember!
Need to report a £10.10 spend yesterday - on two coffees and two pieces of carrot cake!:eek::eek: My only excuse is that it was the May Fayre, so supporting the town and local business.
We very rarely spend in coffee shops now, and it was a local independent one, so at least I'm not supporting C*sta ... but really, £5.05 for a coffee and a cake???
Made a sc chicken curry for dinner yesterday, so will probably have that again today. If not, we have some very old lamb burgers in the freezer which need using up, so might have those instead with salad, and freeze the curry.
Have a lovely day everyone, whatever you are doing!

Chelsea bun,
Regarding running out of insect repellant, home bargains sell tea tree oil for 99p (a little bottle of pure essential oil).
This can be used undiluted on skin but what I recommend is put a bit of body lotion in the palm of your hand, add a few drops of tea tree oil to it then apply. It is a natural insect repellant and is a good thing to have in the house as it has a million uses.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
Grocery Spend Weekly Challenge (Sat-Fri):£30.50/£400 -

Been there and done that sooooo many times tjp70 .. at one point it was almost like an addiction, I would have to go food shopping, I had to buy all the best things and lots of them for my little family
I would come home and then be chucking good food that was already in my freezer out just to get the stuff in that I had bought that day.... Looking back I dread to think how much money I have wasted in the past
Now I hardly ever do a full shop... I buy little bits as and when I see them, for instance I needed some ground ginger the other day so nipped to Mr T's and whilst there I checked the reduced section and got a pack of mince reduced to 80p and then a pack of 12 sausages for 69p, got them home and within an hour the mince had been transformed into 1 spag bol and 2 lasagne's for the freezer so that was 3 meals and the sausages were turned into a sausage casserole using 6 of the sausages and the other 6 were bagged up and put in the freezer to have one night with chips and beans so for £1.69 I got 5meals.. not bad eh?
I think that you should go to your fridge, freezer & cupboards armed with a pen and note book, list everything in them, then sit down portion it all off and then do a meal plan and see how many days/weeks worth of meals you can get out of it all...Set it has a challenge for yourself to see if you can stick to it for however many days worth of food you have in......... You will be surprised.
Good luck .... x0 -
Today, we are having roast lamb, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, swede & carrot mash and broccoli with hm yorkie puds. The roast potatoes are half King Edwards and half frozen, from a pack of Aunt Bessies that I found lurking at the back of the freezer. The swede and carrot mash is leftovers from a weekday meal. Parsnips were in the back of the freezer too.
I may make a cake this afternoon if I get time but we are busy photographing things to put on ebay as it is free listing weekend.
This afternoon we have to put up a 4 man tent, take happy snappies and then pack it away again. Groan. It needs to go though.
So, so far so good but the test will be next week.If Plan A fails, remember there are 25 more letters0 -
Thank you to everyone for the welcome
We spent a lot yesterday & a small spend this morning in Lidl of £14.54 takes us up to £181.91 out of our £400 already
We have loads in yet just keep spending for some reason.
The £14.54 included 8 cans of Carlsberg for £3.29 for OH as a weekend treat & £3.99 for a bottle of wine for me.
Need to hide my car keys I think so that I can not get to the shops

Hi, yes its easy to spend, i swear i have an addiction to food spending. I have been doing the grocery challenge for probably a year now and i have really reigned in my spending. I am also on a thread called I am eating out of the freezer and Cupboards challenge, it really helps. I have set myself a spend of £40 this month, which is killing me, not that we don't have food, 'cause i have enough to last a year or two, just the physical not shopping, but its getting easier, as i just eat out of the freezer and stores and buy fresh fruit, veg and cold meats with the rest. Not sure I will make it, but i am really giving it a try. Good luck, love to see you on the other threads, as there are loads of us.0
