I started buying frozen diced onions and sliced peppers as they lasted longer and you get more for the price, but in an attempt to be healthy and get our '5 a day' in, I have been following the recommended servings on the pack when using them in a meal. Now they are running out very quickly! I am going to have to start doing half the stated pack portion per meal.**Debt Free as of 15:55 on Friday 23rd March 2012**And I am staying that way

I have just had a fab meal, couldnt find the skewers for the chicken kebabs i was making, so i tipped the mix into a large roasting tin. It was absolutley lovely. I had mine with pitta bread and a sprinkle of cheese, oh and children had theirs with a baked potato. I used a 19p nandos spie mi picked up from b&m, oh said he would buy more tomorrow but i am trying to explain the concept of nsd to him.Grocery Challenge 24th Feb-28 Dec 2012 £2000/£1404

NSD for me today and last Sunday. I've updated the sig. Do people just count an NSD when you've spent NO money whatsoever, or just no money from the GC? I've only been counting the days where I spent absolutely nothing! I guess it doesn't matter so long as I'm consistent, and remember what I'm doing!:o0

JJ - Thank you for the micro pud recipes, I can't wait to try them all :T
Meg72 - hope I remembered your name right! I had a really painful heel, everytime I put my foot on the floor I got a shooting pain, it turned out to be a calcaneous spur (heel spur). I didn't have any treatment (I believe you can have pain killing injections into your heel) and it went eventually, but I do get the odd twinge now and again. Try getting some really cushiony insoles for your shoes, that gives some respite. HTH
Just off to A$da to get some eggs for the micro pudsand other stuff too!
Have a good Tues eve, Pix🎄The most wonderful time of the year 🎄0 -
Just Logging on to report a NSD grocerywise, Yay!
I have just finished batch cooking a large pack of cheap mince now have the fat drained and cooling for later cooking. I prefer to reuse this when doing Yorkshire puddings.
Two thirds of the pack filled out with Carrots, onions, peas, tomatoes and red lentils to make into a spag bol mix, The other third into a chilli filled out with onion, red lentils and of course kidney beans. Managed to make 8 portions in total for the freezer some in tuperware for lunch tomorrow with some extra steamed rice and veggies and some for tomorrow night to have with jacket potatoes.
Feeling very MS now, Hope everyone has had a great day.Consolidated and under control 42 payments to go.:(:o;):p:(:o;):p:(:o;):p:(:o;):p:(:o;):p:(:o;):p:(:o;):p:(:o;):p:([STRIKE]£7028.50[/STRIKE]£5990.43Aim: 35 and Debtfree0 -

I just count nsds as no grocery spending, as this is the grocery challenge, but others do complete nsds. Up to you!!Spending_Vs_Saving wrote: »Just Logging on to report a NSD grocerywise, Yay!

What a great idea! My nan always used to have a special mug in the fridge with fat in it to reuse - I'd completely forgotten about that! Thanks for the idea, and the memory.
My friend fed me chilli the other day. It's her storecupboard version.
Storecupboard chilli
Mince
Tin ratatouille
Tin toms
Tin baked beans in chilli (or a tin of baked beans and some chilli powder!)
Tin kidney beans
Makes a really mild chilli, think my children will enjoy it. They haven't liked chilli before. This is my try-it-this-month recipe. We had this with couscous, as she'd run out of rice!Grocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries.
