Hi, I'd like to join this challenge please, every month I try to cut our food budget down a bit but we always seem to spend more than we should or can afford. Me and my little brother live together so there is only the 2 of us to feed for the month.
I have started today and spent £18.50 on some household items we needed urgently coz we had run out and they couldn't wait for the main shop we are doing tomorrow. I have gone through all my kitchen cupboards to see what we have got so that I could make a proper list of the things we 'need', which judging by the amount of items we still had shouldn't be a lot! I have also gone through the freezer and had a good clear out so I know exactly what is in there. I'm setting our budget for £150 for May, wish me luck!:D
Huge thanks to everyone who takes the time and effort to post all the comps! :T

First day of the month, and first spend. I had planned to pop into Aldi this evening, but I didnt get away from work until late, by which time it had already shut.
Popped into Sainsbury's instead and spent £1.10 on some reduced veg.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
Last night I made a sweet potato curry and tonight we had a veg stir fry. Both great for getting veg into the kids.
Tomorrow will just be frozen fish, chips and peas as we get home very late on a Wed.
We did our shop on Sunday so that was in April's budget.
Reading through I notice people picking up a lot of reduced meat. I was going to say I would struggle with this as I always make my meal plan for the week before going to the shops but, of course, I could pick up the reduced meat and freeze it then incorporate into the following week's meal plan.
Hmmm, there's a plan.GC June £78.50 / £250, May £262 / £250.

Had a NSD yesterday but went to A*da and M*S and spent a total of £63 out of my weekly budget of £75. I'm trying to only go to the SMs once a week so I'm not tempted by the YSs! I've spent the last couple of months reading all the advice and tips before I took the plunge and declared my target
Argent - Don't beat yourself up about your spends. We've all been there, and you'll get some really good advice here from the folks who have been doing this a long time. They're a friendly bunch around here. Keep popping in to stay motivated and ask for help - there's always someone around! Just take your time and make little changes and before you know it you'll be totally MSE!!!! :T2025 Fashion on the ration

NSD here.
We had HM sausage pie with roast potatoes/ roast parsnip, carrots, onions, peas and baked onion.
I did some more baking while the oven was on - all ingredients I had in - so no shopping required.
