. I would like to join you all. I have no idea what we currently spend in a month but i know its far to much, there is 5 of us, me,DH, 2 Teen DD's,DS & 4 cats. Im going to set my budget at £70 a week for food/toiletries/cleaning, That will be £350 for May. I've also been reading the SP challenge so am considering that too.

Haven't posted for a while but have been reading lots.
Since OH lost his job things are reallllly tight here
My month started yesterday and so far I've spent £9.94. Hoping to keep below £250 for May (have to really!)0 -
Spent £25.16 in MrT - mostly the stuff I went for but got a few YS packs of meat. None of it was stuff we needed and none of it was massively reduced - 50% off mostly - but its all stuff that we will get through either this month or next and 50% off is better than full price! All in the freezer now so got to adjust the meal planning for the rest of the month...0

I am on a journey to reduce and learning valuable lessons, along with almost everyone on this thread (although there are one or two who have it completely sorted such as Florenceem )- so, welcome and read on in. Definitely it is good advice to read the first few posts on page 1 which are our "standing bible" of do's and don'ts. If you have hoarder tendencies (like me, who is prepared for the next Suffolk siege) then read up on Mothership's 2nd purse system in post #6 and try Linz's great tracker spreadsheet (there is also a whole 2nd purse thread now too). I recommend regular speed-reading as we average 50-odd posts a day at this stage of each month.
Other top tips are to "thank" as you read (so you know where you got to) and keep a running total in your signature (User CP and Edit signature from the menu on the left) - and subscribe (Thread tools; subscribe to thread) so every time you go to your User CP you can see when there are new posts to catch up on! Good luck and keep posting!
