Completely lost it in April, so I'll start with May again today. NSD so good.
Made cottage pie last night. Recipe for 4. I padded it out with extra veg and put a leek, potato and cheese topping on it. Six portions left over after DH and I had dinner last night. Num num num.
Defrosted the freezer on Sunday and did an audit. Even though I thought I'd kept up with the list there was a lot extra in there. Shouldn't need anything but basics for months.
Going with £200 again for this month.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500 -

This thread is so handy! Was catching up while writing my list of what to get from MrT on my way home and trying to work out what to do for dinner tomorrow. Was planning to ask you loverly lot for inspiration but it has come to me just from reading on here - and no one has even suggested it so it must be subliminal!
Wednesday night in summer is sports night. Used to go straight to the club from work via McDs or the chippy. Moved house last year and figured there was time to go home first, but I have less than 15 minutes before I've got to be out. OH has now moved in but he's working on the house and can't be relied on to do very much food-prep wise (very focussed on his building work and won't wear a watch so there is a real risk that the first time he realises its not morning any more is when I arrive home from work!). Was thinking of S/C but both of us believe that stew needs to be served with dumplings, and there isn't time to make them when I get home. But some sort of morrocan-y tagine type thing (have a packet sauce lurking in the cupboard) done in the SC with couscous could work. In fact, if I leave the couscous in a bowl by the kettle with instructions to OH to pour boiling water on it when he makes himself a cup of tea it should all be ready to dish up as soon as I get in. Troughing food in under 5 min isn't the healthiest way to eat but its better than starting on prepping dinner when we get home after 10!
So must add some diced lamb or similar to my MrT shopping list, and some SC/morrocan friendly veg. Need to remember what it was I was originally going for now too ;-)0 -

Hi
Not quite caught up with the thread yet but already well on the way to my first £100!
I had an As*a shop yesterday of basics which made up most of this and spent £6.85 today.
I'm planning a large Sainsb*ry shop on Thurs but need to do a plan so I can get as much of the month sorted as possible.
Good luck with May!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
Put my 1st spend on from memory & got it wrong (for the better). Weekly shop last Wednesday was actually £33.70 not £36. Then had 4 NSDs. Yesterday spent £1.03 on 8 kid's yogurts & an 11p YS loaf of bread.
We spend a lot of time at a gym & the drinks aren't cheap so have today bought 8 Hydro Fruit Shoots from T*sco for £3.50 instead of £9.60 if we'd bought them there! Sneaked the kids one each in today for their tennis lesson!
Tuesdays are the busiest for after school clubs so both DDs have had cooked dinners at school. DH & I are having Spiced Chickpea Chicken (a new-to-me recipe). Sounds good & is in a Healthy Eating book!
Got to make shopping list tonight for tomorrow. Meal plan for May is done so shouldn't take too long.2017 GC O-£93.46/£160; S-£136.26/£160; A-£130.55/£160; J-£47.12/£160;

Thanks for all the congratulations! We're very excited but it's quite early days yet. However, if I keep eating in the quantities I am at the moment I'll be blowing the budget (and my waistband!) in no time. I'm trying really hard to be healthy but mid morning bacon rolls are calling to me...0

Hi all, just tried a quick speed read catch up so have probably missed all the good bits! Congrats to Sallybunny that's such lovely news.
Last night I cooked a whole chicken in the slow cooker, roasted some sweet potatoes and had it with peas and sweetcorn and lots and lots of thick gravy. I cannot tell you how lovely it was after a week meat free (that last week is always a tight one!) I'm on a rare night out tonight otherwise I would happily eat it all again! Will have some of the leftovers curried tomorrow, that's if DH doesn't finish it all tonight.
My working week has changed so did a shop yesterday, £27.21 at !id!. Sadly we needed things like coffee which always bumps the price up, and the chicken, and 20 eggs cus we're always running out due to all those yummy recipes on page 1!! Chocolate and crisps fell in there too but then it is a bank holiday weekend.
Have a lovely Tuesday everyone.:DMake £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020
