Florenceem Im going to guess 79 - I really do not have a clue, but you really have some great os ideas, which really were at their best during rationing. My mum is 72 and she really had no idea of budgeting, so im guessing slightly older than her, if your younger, how fantastic to be so knowledgable.
Reporting a spend of £1.83 in morries. 24p for a box of chestnut mushrooms, 59p for liver and £1 for lettuce, have updated sig0 -
Eyeswideopen,
I used to have hens and would often find eggs in unusual places not knowing when they were laid.
A simple, timeless method of testing is simply this:
Pop egg into a jug of water.
If it floats to the top, bin it!!!
If it floats only a little, up to half way point, use it for baking.
If it stays at the bottom, it's as fresh as a daisy!!
The scientific reason is that eggs are porous: they absorb air.
The older it is, the bigger the air sac. Hence the floating.
Your eggs can last for months in the fridge. Honestly. If in doubt, conduct the test.
:T:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

First week done - £46.27 which is higher than I intended, but so be it. The next 4 weeks had better be a lot lower.
This thread always cheers me up because everyone is so helpful :-)0 -
