Can everyone PLEASE [STRIKE]not laugh/cry[/STRIKE] be kind when I say I'm setting this months spend target at £600
:o:o:o I honestly do spend way way more than that at the moment so it is a drop honestly!!! I was going to go lower but didn't want to fall flat on my face the first month!
That is to feed 2 adults on slimming world,a 6,7 and 8 year old.To buy nappies,formula,wipes for my 4 month old.20 packed lunches(DH + kidlets),all toiletries,razor blades etc.Pet food for a big dog,4 cats,rabbit,guinea pig,gerbil and litter.
So day 1 and I'm having my first no spend dayI defrosted some mince from my (packed)freezer, have peppers, onions, tomatoes, rice, kidney beans etc in my fridge/cupboard so am doing a big chilli and making extra by using more veg than usual to bulk it out and freeze portions for lunches.
Usually I'd still have bought fresh mince, despite having 6 in the freezer because I'd have forgotten to defrost any!!Then I end up at Mr Ts every day, wander round picking up stuff I don't need and blow another £50.So today is a positive day!! :jSlightly mad mummy to four kidlets aged 4 months,6,7 and 8:D:D xx

Bumpmakesfour Welcome, if thats what you feel comfortable with, then thats what you do it at. Be warned, it becomes very addictive living frugal, and i don't mean going without. One of the best things I learnt was to meal plan with food you already had in and just buy in fresh fruit and veg, cold meats etc. Good luck.
Jumblejack thanks for that0 -
EyesWideOpen Adding in tuna to LO pasta works fine. I usually like to throw in some sweetcorn aswell.
Had a spend of £18.74 at Mr T today but have started my shopping list for Thursdays payday shop so i only buy what i need.
I have decided to start my grocery challenge from tomorrow until the 30st as its 4 weeks then and easier for me to calculate as I do meal planning & shopping every thursday. So there for my budget will be £70 weekly & £280 monthly.0 -
EyesWideOpen like keencomper said, tuna is nice with pasta, we usually have it with tinned tomatoes, all mixed together, i don't think the cheese sauce will matter0

Dont worry no one on here will laugh I think its the nicest friendliest thread on MSE.
Its very sensible to cut back a little at a time rather than set yourself up for disappointment by aiming too low. Good luck.Slimming World at target0 -
Florenceem Im going to guess 79 - I really do not have a clue, but you really have some great os ideas, which really were at their best during rationing. My mum is 72 and she really had no idea of budgeting, so im guessing slightly older than her, if your younger, how fantastic to be so knowledgable.
Reporting a spend of £1.83 in morries. 24p for a box of chestnut mushrooms, 59p for liver and £1 for lettuce, have updated sig
I am guesing 72.Slimming World at target0 -
Florenceem - You say you've just recently retired so that would make you 61?
(I had a nosey in your public profile info
)
Small spend of 50p on a packet of chewing gum today - I had a particularly oniony lunch! Also 59p on a can of diet coke yesterday.
