Hi everyone, my budget has been complicated by me deciding to get mine delivered and I planned a whole month's worth of groceries (I hope) with monies left over from last month's budget and a large chunk of this month's £60. I need to do some maths to figure out what I have left this month to spend.

    Edit
So, I have £18.08 for the rest of the month, but my cupboards are well stocked, even for fruit and veg, so hopefully I will be OK.

    Edit 2
I am sorry if I am not posting much lately, I have sore hands and I am not to spend too much time on the computer, but I will be reading and clicking the thanks button!

    Eyeswideopen,
I used to have hens and would often find eggs in unusual places not knowing when they were laid.
A simple, timeless method of testing is simply this:

Pop egg into a jug of water.
If it floats to the top, bin it!!!
If it floats only a little, up to half way point, use it for baking.
If it stays at the bottom, it's as fresh as a daisy!!

The scientific reason is that eggs are porous: they absorb air.
The older it is, the bigger the air sac. Hence the floating.

Your eggs can last for months in the fridge. Honestly. If in doubt, conduct the test.

    :T

That must be the niftiest piece of advise I have been given in ages! Wow! I'll never forget that :rotfl:

I popped a can of tune and lots of fresh veg, including the tin of sweetcorn someone else suggested. Also used two of the eggs, softly boiled and stirred it in. Lovely! And thrifty as I used only ingredients I already had!

Bought a bread today, £3.40, will add to signature. I am starting to play with the idea of being able to come in at £200 rather than my budget of £300... oh oh oh wouldn't that be great!!

    Hope all are doing well.
Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!

Great advice, I used to shop every day now can go about two weeks, do you like growing things, a big money saver for me has been growing my own, even if you only have a windowsill you can grow herbs, if you have a garden, even better.
lol, yes i have an allotment, but not been there much 'cause of weather and motivation, but should go there in spare time I don't have a problem with spending too much and can do £80 per month, but £40 is just so different, no AF, its killing me, but like i said i don't need it. Thanks, im just not going to look online or go into shops, thanks.

Declaring €2.05 spend at work today. I really wanted some juice! Thought I was only working for 3 hours, turns out it was 6 hours so the rest I spent on a yogurt and banana for lunch (trying to keep it healthy as well!)

Still haven't had any NSD yet this month, beginning to think it will never happen! LOL

Meg72 I am struggling with my budget. I think i just need to stay away from food shops and not look at AF. I had to prize(sp?) my hand off pressing the place order. I do not need food at all, apart from fruit & salad, probably not fruit as i have large catering size tins that could do with using. Did you cut the bacon frozen or defrost it, just wondering as i have a pack of the same bacon in freezer, no room in there so cant defrost all bacon. Any tips re not spending appreciated. I just want to do this month on this low budget

I bought some T*sco value bacon & chopped it into little pieces (with scissors) and froze it in in cling film in 100g packs. I have used it in loads of different things.

I've done my weekly shop but will update in a bit - just got to go and read bedtime story to the kids! :)

    Evening all

Been awol for a week or so. so really need to catch up on the end of the April thread and most of the May thread.

Came in at £248.76 for April. :j everso slightly under budget. But really pleased with that.

Am setting £200 for May. Am hoping to go shopping either tomorrow or Friday so that will take a biggish chunk of the budget. But pleased that i have yet to do a shop in May. Actually i have spent £2 on bunny food.
