Hi PG - my OH and I are having a continuing debate about getting a BM. He says that it will be another thing to clog up the side/cupboard, the bread you make is smaller than a shop bought loaf so we will need more than one loaf a day - what do you think?

    Thanking you in advance :T

Sorry, only just seen your post.

The bread I make lasts us long enough. Last week, I made a loaf last for a week, but my two have one slice between them for lunch, as the slices are so much bigger.

I reckon if we used bread more, I would only make two loaves a week. This would not even use a whole bag of flour, so not very expensive. And, you get the fresh taste. tbh, with the panny, the bread stays fresh for the whole week, but with the cookw0rks one I had, it didn't. Definitely a case of more expensive is better here, I'm afraid. Seriously lush bread though.

    Declaring at £192.54 / £140.

Sounds bad but actually £140 was what I was aiming for before the baby arrived, and when I add up from my receipts, £50 of the month's spend was on baby stuff. So I consider that I have overspent by £2.54 which I'm not too worried about!

There isn't much I can do about the baby spend, so I'm going to exclude it next month although it will complicate the accounting a bit. June might be cheap because I am running down the freezer stock to defrost it, but if I defrost before the end of the month then the re-stock may kill my budget! Heading over to June now...

This is the new you. Baby is now an ongoing expense. Better include them in the budget because you are now have an extra mouth to feed/clothe/clean etc. Surely the budget would be expected to rise to take account of the new person.

  • I know it's very late to declare for May, but I've just totalled it up and I think I've done £144.65 / £200. So very pleased with that! It's a bit difficult to work out exactly, as we went away just before the end of the month. But I didn't go over, and that's the main thing! So, on to June!
