Hi all, managed to do most of the week's shopping today, £8.24 in Mr M on frozen stuff, bananas and apples, oh and the savers pasta. Then !id! for the main shop; bacon, sausages, ham, eggs, yogurt, filter coffee, cheese and perhaps some chocolate fell in too, £23.60.
Have a weetabix cake in the oven and must make the syrup cake again this week. Sadly the dog ate most of the last one!!
Will update sig.
Has anyone else noticed they've swapped the £s they've saved for some extra lbs? Think I've been making too many of the cakes!!:DWhen I make a cake - it gets cut into portions and frozen - no taste test.
Then I get 1 piece out whenever I want to. Mr F does have a piece of cake - but rarely - I am the sweet tooth one.

£67 spent today in Tesco but £20 of it was on a toilet roll stock up and about £12 for the business, plus £5 for snacks for our hols in half term. I wouldn't have spent so much but I had a £15 off £50 to use and that's too nice a discount to pass up. We won't need anything at all for a week though, and even then only milk and veg.0

Congrats Pixie!! That must be a weight off.
I had a nsd today. We had los for dinner, and there was enough for me too; sometimes there isn't. If I get peckish later, I'll have a snack.
I've updated my signature now, and it's showing that I have £3.43 left per day for the rest of the year. My first target is to up that to £3.50, then £3.60, etc. I don't need to get anything for the rest of the week, and even then I only need fresh stuff, so as long as I spend less than £20.58 by the end of Sunday, I'll be clawing it back. April was the killer month for me - got too scared about the job and stuff, and ended up stocking up for a siege! I wouldn't have minded quite so much, if I wasn't already stocked up for a double siege!!
Dinners this week are sorted. I'm only feeding the children on Thurs, and we're having quiche and jackets. Weds and Fri I'll be having noodles, sauce and stir fried veg. Not sure on Sat yet, poss a tin of soup to get it used up. Tom I'm out at a quiz night. It costs £10 to enter, and for that you get a really lush two-course meal, and the rest of the money goes to charity, so a really worthwhile evening. Plus it's a laugh, and I don't often go out for myself, so it's a nice treat.
Just need to figure out what to do for Sunday dinner now. possibly sausage casserole with roasties, and then we'll have the los on the Monday with pasta. yeah, that's what we're having! Just need to write it down so I don't forget!
My friend is coming over tom evening, so we can do the next step in our homebrewing experiment, so that'll be a laugh, and then she's round on Friday to sample - I can't wait! I don't touch alcohol as a rule when the children are home; as it's just me, I feel nervous about it, and like to be able to drive to a and e!!
Off to get the packups ready, and do a bit of sorting and tidying. My aim is to do a little every day, and hopefully it'll amount to a lot.

Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending0 -
Haven't been on for a few days as I'm trying hard not to spend too much more! Here to report an 18.96 spend on Friday at Mr T on fruit, veg, bread and fish. There's enough food in until the weekend the just a few bits of fruit and veg to last until Monday when the new budget starts! Hurray!0

I have just spent £2.06 on 5 packs of burger baps 10p each (ready for emergency BBQ supplies). 4 tins of Palm hearts RTC at 10p a tin. 6 tins of mushy peas at 6p a tin. 4 packs of lactofree cream cheese 10p a tub. Melon pieces 20p. Big bag of cauliflower and broccoli 20p.
I know it takes my total dangerously close but I don't need anything. I just fancied trying my chances on whoopsied groceries.
I must say, my self restraint is getting stronger and stronger!
There were whoopsied cakes and pies at 25p for 2 and I was tempted by thinking they could come in handy for days out. Then I thought, I could make them EVEN cheaper so refrained. The same went with a whoopsied quiche. It was reduced to 88p. I even had a 50p off quiche coupon from the price drop mag but I told myself I could easily make it cheaper as it was one of those posh tiny ones. :A:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Can I ask a question please? I have left over bolognaise sauce but I have left over spaghetti as well. I would usually just freeze the sauce, but have never frozen cooked pasta before.
Will it work if I put the pasta in a dish and put the sauce on top or do I need to mix them together or is it best to not freeze the pasta. ie will it go soggy?
Thanks for any advice.0 -
Well,my month has ended and I managed to come in 2p under budget (go me!!!). I'll look for June's thread when it starts and will go for £282 again for the month - don't need to be on the front page!I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Well that would be one way to defrost the freezer - the door would never be shut in this house!
Even OH has noticed that we've been swapping £s for lbs - and he's the one who will happily eat the full packet of biscuits in one sitting! I've stopped buying him biscuits but then feel like I need to compensate by making sure that there's always something sweet in the cupboard for him. And as its homemade, I can't resist in the same way as I resist shop-bought. The £s saved might be going to weightwatchers at this rate :rotfl:0 -
Quick post and run from me i'm afraid some YS bargins in Mr T on meat for me today and some snacks for at work hopefully to keep me away from the cakes and sweets..... I must reduce my sugar content and save my teeth!:o dentist bill looming 2 to repair this visit.

We've both actually lost weight since starting this challenge. I used to buy takeaways at least once, usually twice every week:o, but I now cook from scratch or the freezer:). So where we used to have a Chinese or a pizza, we now have a hm curry or chilli, which I can control the fat content of more easily. My tastebuds have changed as well - I don't like the really salty, fatty tastes you get with ready made stuff any more! I had a sweet over the weekend which had a toffee centre, and I spat it out because it tasted fatty! Weird!:p
I haven't tried any of the amazing cake and cookie recipes on here yet, though. So the weight loss may be short lived!:rotfl:0
