No Rising - he's working but at the moment is off as he broke his arm 2 weeks ago so maybe he's just bored!! Anyway whatever is, I'm not complaining:p
JJ - made your peanut cookies today and all I will say they are edible. :rotfl::rotfl: It is not your recipe mind, it's just that I am a rubbish cook:(. Will have another attempt tho and think next time will use better quality peanut butter as I found the A$da sp version was very watery and therefore my biscuits didn't set hard, iykwim. Will also use less sugar as found them quite sweet. Thank you anyway as even though they weren't great, practise will make perfect:AWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:

Oh and big thankyou to who ever suggested putting ginger in a carrot soup. Its just revived my bendy carrots into lunch and 2 extra portions for the freezer and to be honest carrot soup has never appealed enough to me before.QUOTE]

I bought my Kenwood mixer when we got married 33 years ago. They made them to last in the 'olden days'!EyesWideOpen wrote: »I am quite proud of myself today though as I have taken out some casserole beef out of the freezer which is now turining into a lovely stew as we speak. The beef was cut into quite large chunks so will ladle up plates before serving to prevent gluttons eating all the meat! Lots of veg in the casserole too and will serve with roasties. Whilst the casserole was simmering I also made my first ever HM pastry which I will use lo casserole as a pie filling for tomorrow's dinner. Hoping there will be plenty of left over casserole and also lo pie to go in the freezer too! To really show you all how OS I've been with my casserole I used veg which were on the point of turning and fished out some frozen red wine to add flavour to the sause. Now I have NEVER ever not finished every drop of wine in a bottle but a couple of weeks ago I read that someone else (can't remember who) used to do that so that they didn't have to open a full bottle (or buy a new one) for recepies where a little wine was asked for. Very proud of my restraint with the wino and with now adding it to the casserole.
In other news, OH has just given in to my pleading that I be given a small chest freezer as an early birthday present too so from next week I intend to make all our bread. Will do a twice-monthly big batch of 8 breads in one go so that we have enough in the freezer for the month (think 16 breads will be enough, may not need that many). I recon that will save me about a quarter of my grocery budget at least - time will tell!
See how you have all transformed me into an OS novice?
Well done. You've really gone to town there. :T You do realise that next year you'll want another freezer
Today I bought a treat in the Garden Centre cafe for DH, DD and me, but it came out of my other purse so I'm not counting it as part of the CG. We had brisket, Yorkshire puds, veggies and gravy for Sunday dinner, so didn't need much afterwards
I can't figure out the 2nd purse system either.2025 Fashion on the ration

For those slimming, I was just reading this blog of a lady who is using a 1940s ration experiment to lose weight! She has put on the site all her wartime recipes. She is an inspiration.
Enjoy.....

For the people asking about Motherships fantastic Second Purse system......
I kept reading about it last year but just couldnt "get it" but this January I joined the dedicated Second Purse thread that Kerri started and when I actually started DOING it, it suddenly all became very clear! :T
See if this very basic example helps at all:-
SP has £10 float.
You see your fave cereal for 1/2 price and pay £1.00 out of your SP.
SP now has £9 and you have a packet of cereal in your shop.
When you need to open a new box of cereal, you take it from YOUR shop and not a supermarket and pay yourself the usual supermarket price of £2.00.....
So £1.00 goes to SP to bring you back up to your balance of £10 and the £1 "profit" goes in 3rd Purse.
That's how I do it.
Some people keep putting profit into SP until it gets to the level they want but I am too impatient! :rotfl:
I also pay back the price I am comfortable with......sometimes it is the full retail price and sometimes its just what I paid for the item.
The Second Purse thread is here:-
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3745005
If you check my signature, it shows how much I have in 2nd and 3rd purse and how much I have already spent on my "luxury extras" that the Second Purse has helped me get, I bought loads of Yankee Candles, Body Shop stuff, perfume and Sloggis so far.
All stuff I wanted but would struggle to fund normally
Motherships Second purse has been a revelation to me :j0 -
hi...nsd planned as i managed to get to lidl yesterday for some bananas and carrots...really going for it this couple of weeks...i have just got some meat from the freezer and spotted the bottom (of the freezer) so i am making some inroads
i have been making the most basic shopping list i can but i worry that it seems to be fruit and veg that i dont buy and i think in the long term this isnt the answer ....anyhow we have some in at the moment so will see how we go
if peeps dont think it is too tragic for words i might post a pic of our new car (when we get it) to show where the savings i have made following this thread have gone
take care tessonwards and upwards0
