Kidney bean curry with basmati and yoghurt:photo-79.jpg?t=1337425939
There was enough left over for a couple of freezer meals:
    photo-80.jpg?t=1337426756
I did the costing on a previous post. About 25p per serving which costs in the basmati n yoghurt too:T

Forgot to say, loads of basmati left over so I can make my leftover rice pudding in the thermal cooker tomorrow too!
As I've already costed it in with the curry, the actual cost will just be in the milk, sugar etc!!
Looks really yummy - did you give the recipe already please?

Maybe if you're worried about it you should use it in a recipe which disguises it more than pasta. Alternatively it isn't usual to put it in a tomato sauce with pasta but that would disguise it.
Remember even MSE doesn't make you eat things you don't like though!
Here's a clam chowder recipe that you could use it in (ignore the claw meat in the recipe):

Thank you for that - since I have 2 tins I might experiment with 2 different recipes. How would you make the pasta - would you advise a cream or tomato based sauce?

I must admit I've scared myself reading about brown crab online since I'm not a fan of offal (I say that but I've never tried much of it - just don't like the 'thought' of it!) - has it got this sort of taste, or is it more like tuna?

It's nice to get a few ideas - I had resigned myself into thinking it would be thrown away which is not very MSE at all! :o

    I used this recipe:

I guess you could easily adapt it if you don't have all the individual spices though.

Hey it was me that said about simmering sausages for 20 mins before grilling them. They were Donald Russell sausages, frozen, and this is what it said on the packet. They were lovely - but that's maybe because they are really good quality, no shrinkage, no grisle(sp?), just lovely plump pork sausages :)

    Quick update on tonight's shopping.

Popped into Mr T and L!dl. Picked up flavoured water, squash, crisps, brown sauce, and toothpaste. Total £10.56. L!dl had ran out of the bread I was after so I will need to head out again tomorrow.

We had stir - fried noodles, barbecue chicken and side salad for dinner. Lovely meal - we really enjoyed it.

Up at 5.45 (I think it was the football result - I have supported Chelsea since my Dad first took me to a home game and my favourite foreign city is Munich as DH lived there when we met). I was just too excited to sleep so I got up and made bread instead - it's just proving for the second time while I catch up with a coffee. The dishwasher is empty, the washing is done, all the ornamental plants are in pots - just a few veg seedlings to pot on and a bit of shopping to do (trying to keep it down to fresh only for the next fortnight). OMG I might have to do some housework, I'm so organised. I might suggest we go out instead.

DS was meant to stay out all night but was asleep when I woke at 5.15 (hmm, maybe that's what woke me...). Glad he is mature enough to come home when it's the right thing to do, even when he had planned an all-nighter.

    Have a good day everyone

Ohhhhhhh that looks ...... yum!:j Might be giving that a go!

Quick question - how do you chill your rice for freezing (have heard loads of horror stories about reheating / freezing rice and apparently it's down to how quickly the rice is cooled)?

The soup looks just as yum:D - I love parsnips but not tried making parsnip soup before - another to add to the list!
