    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. My son's BMW was parked outside his house but not on the drive, on the road and when he was leaving for work today, he noticed that someone had been in the car. The glove compartment had been emptied, dirty marks on the seats, boot opened and water bottle thrown on floor. It was like they had rummaged around everything but as far as we know, didn't take anything.

There was a satnav in glove compartment, but not taken. Someone suggested something about taking the tracker but not sure about that. The same thing happened to them apparently. Should he report it to the police ? Anyone else heard of this happening ? Grateful for any replies.

He should have done, and perhaps still should but SoCO are unlikley to be able to get any meaningful evidence now... :(

    Seen this happen.

Also seen a car broken into to steal the jack, presumably by someone who had a flat nearby but didn't have a jack on board.

I had someone break into my car to steal a foot pump ( highly desirable £10 effort from Argos), the police told me I should be more careful and not leave high value items in the car. The thieves went through the rest of the car including the glove box and my tape collection but decided not to bother with anything else, obviously didn't like my taste in music nor wanted to double their takings by nicking the 3.5mm to cassette adapter.

The police took it all very seriously, they'd spotted the car twice before I'd got to it as one had reported it and a another had spotted it later and were waiting to see if anyone came back to the car. They took away the cassettes and some other bits in the car and got them fingerprinted, I still have them in their evidence bags although I don't think anything ever came of it.

I recently snuck down and borrowed the OH's car, to clean it of all its junk, rubbish and kids bits for a bit of laugh, three weeks later and he still hasnt noticed!!!! i took 3 bin bags of stuff from it too, polished and hoovered and put in a new smelly, and then returned it to its usual parking space at work....
I was going to say about the wheel key, as thats what happened to a friend of ours

My first ever car was a 1981 Ford Fiesta.

I once left it unlocked in the roughest part of town and went to a shop. At the time, theft of car stereo's was rife.

I came out to find a letter on my dashboard. It was from a thief, basically saying he was a car thief and I should remember to lock my car in future as my stereo was well worth taking as were my speakers... it said he was in a rush, so next time I won't be so lucky!!

Nowt had been touched. Even my fags were left on the drivers seat.

I don't reckon I've left my car unlocked since.........
In too much of a hurry to nick a stereo but had plenty of time to write a letter. Very public spirited.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

About 20 years ago in Woking I had my car broken into and my Welsh dragon stolen. They left my CD collection alone.

Not sure what is most annoying - to have the car broken into to have a small cuddly toy dragon stolen, or to have a bunch of scrotes deem my CD collection to be rubbish.

When I was a teenager my dad woke me up one morning (about 11am ;)) to have it out with me because apparently I'd been smoking in his car. I said I didn't know what he was on about (the truth), he said there's cigarette ash on the seats and it smells of smoke so I know it's you... I was offended as anything because I hadn't done it and we had a blazing row, we didn't speak to each other for a week.

He probably still thinks it was me but it wasn't , it was a wet night though so either a homeless person or someone coming back from the pub is my guess.

    Lock your car!
