  • I think it went well thank you. Wasn't a proper interview really, more of a chat around the course and how I think it would benefit me and my practice, professional development, etc. Didn't stop me from getting nervous beforehand of course, but as soon as I met them and got chatting, I was fine. Hopefully I'll get on it. There is another one I can apply for as a back up but this one sounds more interesting.

Urgh, I feel all over the place with money atm. I've just been buying DS's next size wardrobe from ebay. i hae no pp funds so had to use bank account thru ebay which has meant that I have paid fees on top of the payment. Lack of foresight on my part which is really annoying. Also the account linked to pp is the one I'm currently paying the OD on so I'm seeing the OD rising right now which is sending me a bit panicky. DS' savings account is paying me back but it's an outside account and takes days for the payment to clear so I'm waiting for that to appear. Can't come quick enough!!!

I really should change the default bank account with pp.

  • I feel your pain with the transfer, it's so annoying waiting isn't it!! mbna payment still not showing as cleared with them so i'm logging on every two minutes just to be sure. Do other people do that or is it just me? I think I have debt induced O.C.D :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Will keep my fingers crossed you get on the course you want, CPD can be such a bore!

  • It really is but necessary. At least I won't actively have to search it out for the next 2 years - it'll just drop on my lap and I just need to write it up.

Nothing new to report from the last couple of days I don't think. Did the food shop yesterday but went to the shop instead of doing online delivery as the order didn't come to enough to get reduced delivery charge. I'm glad I did - it was lovely! There was hardly anyone in, I didn't have a whingy toddler in the trolley and so I just took my time with it tootling round the shop!!! The only thing that went in that wasn't on the list was a pack of 5 ring doughnuts that had been whoopsied down to 35p. Did the job for pudding! Don't think that was too bad when I went in starving at 5.30 after work. And I suppose, technically, was offset by the £3.50 saving from not paying delivery charge. Petrol didn't count cos I was going passed on the way home from work anyway. :)

Evening aamberle. I'm ashamed with myself this weekend. I'm going to have to dip into the overdraft I'm trying to pay off right now. This is what happens when I remove the spending plug, I go off the rails. I've had the funds for DS' clothes reimbursed by the bank transfer now. However, I've carried on buying. We need copper tape to stop the slugs eating my tomatoes, cucumber and peas, we've had to do a couple of top-up shops, I had to do an emergency buy for a 1 yr old's birthday present we had yesterday and resulted in me getting clothes for DS as well :(. I hate myself for spending money on things. Esp ones that are preventable (we were out yesterday over lunch running errands and DH said not to bother making sandwiches. I made some for DS but not for us. But while we were out, he decided he was hungry, as was I, so we bought lunch - £5).

It's because I keep thinking of the pay rise I'm getting and i'm spending it before I've got it. Which would have been kind of fine before cos we would have credit to back us up (ok it wouldn't have been ok I know) but now I'm not prepared to use the credit and we don't have real life money to pay for it. So I've got to use the credit and I hate myself for it.

I'm on a bit of a downer about it :(.

I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day. I'm working so I won't be able to spend. I might leave my cards at home to prevent online spending. The car has fuel, I'll make my lunch, what else can I need?

Morning Mummy - Hope you are feeling better about things today :)

Dont beat yourself up about the weekend - you need to remember that you did not use the CC's so that is a step in the right direction, and if you need clothes and things for everyday life then that's ok too..you can't put your life on hold for the next few years whilst trying to pay everything off hun. And i bet you got a deal on the copper wire and bits you needed - so yes you spent some money but think of the saving you will make doing so ( homegrown veg for starters yum).

Anyway hope Monday is a good day

    Take Care xx

Hey, don't be so hard on yourself - old habits really do die hard and everyone will fall off the wagon sometimes :) Can you return any of the things you bought for DS? Buying and then returning has become my new thing (even though I hate having to take things back its necessary sometimes).

  • Unfortunately no returns - the majority of it was ebay or sale items which I don't think you can return unless they're damaged????????

I still feel rubbish but I don't feel so out of control now so I'm going to draw a line under it and move on. Thanks for your support ladies :).

I've been having a think, as you do. I understand everyone's sentiments when they go on about the infamous LBM but I'm sceptical. I'm not sure I've had mine but I'm working hard to repay the debt. I don't mind debt in achievable levels that is being paid off, but what I do mind is the level of debt we have and the fact that we weren't actively paying it off but bumbling along making minimum repayments. I know it's not quite in the spirit of MSE and I feel like I'm in conflict 'saying' it out loud but when you're surrounded by the default set up for buying large items e.g. cars being through credit, it's odd to do it any other way? I do love the idea of being able to buy a car outright (I have done it before, but it was my 1st car bought for £995!) but I don't think it's going to be achievable for a good few years.

Also, I read of people on here scraping by on £100 a month food shopping, scouring places for bargains, shopping in £ shops, etc, etc and think to myself "we can afford not to have to do that,". Obv AD (after debt ;)) but I feel guilty for scrimping even though there's no need! Is that ridiculous?

I'm a big blob of conflict at the moment :rotfl:
