I am a bit nervous of tackling it, but I'll take Martin's advice and manage by myself.
    Good luck...
  • Hit the spam button folks!
  • I completely agree with moneyineptitude. Not sure why anyone would want to hand over up to 30% of their compensation to a claims handler who really does not do that much. I did it myself and have so far received over £5,000.

Any particular post, or just generally?:D

(Well done for avoiding the trap of using a CMC)
  • I have successfully claimed money back from MBNA with no problem. I have sent the same letter to the Halifax but they are disputing my claim telling me that in their opinion my ppi was handled correctly. I have asked them to re-consider and they still insist they have acted properly. I still disagree, so now I have to go to the ombudsman. I might still send another letter and ask them to explain the logic behind their thinking.

I got £3,500 from MBNA no quibbling. :j

Continuing a dialogue with the bank after two rejections is a complete waste of time.
Remember, you only have six months from the date of the original rejection to refer your complaint to FOS.

Why do you assume that, because you were successful with one lender, you will automatically succeed with another? Why would identical letters sent to two different lenders garner the same result?

Every complaint is dealt with on it's own merits (or lack of).
  • It's not a waste of time thank you. I have a valid complaint

It quite clearly is a waste of time to write back to the Bank after they have issued their "full and final" response. They won't respond with anything other than a reiteration of their original rejection.
    Take your valid complaint to FOS as per the agreed complaint procedure;

  • I am currently trying to get my PPI money back from Clydesdale Bank Plc.

In 1991, I opened a credit card account with them by post. They sent out an application form, I filled it in, and they approved it - credit card limit of £1200. Didn't see the PPI option box (or Access Repayment Protection Plan), which was an opt-out tick box, not an opt-in tick box. For the next ten years, I always paid my account in full, and never made a claim or had to pay PPI.

Decades later (2001), I move back to the UK to look for work. I used my credit card to pay for various journeys to interviews. Clydesdale bank starts to raise my limit automatically. At that time, I was only able to make minimum payments, and didn't see the PPI deductions being made each month, which despite me not using my card, led to the account ballooning up to £8500, and me making minimum payments of £200. Altogether, I've spent 6K or more on PPI payments and interest alone.

Trying to make claims now. First one was totally rejected. Second one gained a response of "well, you never made a claim or cancelled the policy, so you must have been happy with it", along with a "This is our final correspondence to your complaint."

I just found the template letter from "The Motley Fool", so am about to send a third claim in.

Presently trying to get a fresh copy of my credit card contract, but they keep stalling. First couple of times, they said, "No problem, it'll be out with you in two weeks." Third time I called, the confident assertive telephone agent came back to me whimpering.

From the fax of my original credit card contract, it appears they are all stored on microfiche with a third party archival party (01924 871005). My fax was sent at 8.44pm so they must be very busy :)

    Hi all!

    Quick bit of info needed.

My boyfriend used a CMC to claim back PPI on some bits and bobs that he had no info for (even though I said he should do it himself, and after finding out how much they are going to take wish I'd offered to do it for him!)
But anyway that's not the point.

He received a letter from Tesco. It said (in my own, shortened version) 'We have not sent an exact copy of this letter to Curly Wig (the CMC) as we have 2 loans on record that you paid PPI for and as Curly Wig only contacted regarding one of these loans they are not entitled to any profit from the second as they haven't done any work for it.

Today he received a letter from Curly Wig with a copy of the EXACT same letter from Tesco (thanks a lot Tesco)! Curly Wig state they want their % for BOTH of these loans, despite Tesco coming forward about the 2nd off their own back and stating themselves that the CMC should not get money for it.

Does anybody know where he stands with this?

    Thanks in advance
