Samsung Galaxy S2 Crap Battery Life
Hi there
I'm wondering if anyone can help me before I phone O2.
I upgraded my phone to a Galaxy Samsung S2 one month ago on a greatly reduced tariff from what I had been on with my iPhone.
However, the battery life is so woeful I'm starting to think its a faulty phone.
For instance I charged it up fully at work yesterday, only to find this morning (when I slept in cause the alarm didn't go off!!!) that it had died in the middle of the night?? Between charging and dying, I had made no phonecalls, sent/received about 10 messages, and checked for new emails once. Wifi and bluetooth are both off, plus I turned on energy saving mode yesterday evening once I saw the battery was going down.
When I check to see what is using battery, display = 43%, android system = 16%, is there anyway to see what other programs are using the battery, just to make sure I've left nothing on. Even the first few days when the phone was new and I was messing about with all the new features I got more than 12 hours out of it!
Is this normal for this phone or have I managed to get a dud?
Thanks in advance

All androids leak battery life - if the samsung is like htc phones, should be something under settings to see running applications - you might be able to turn a few of those off.
google location services is one to turn off, frequent email checking.
You are lucky to get 12 hours, most of these last an hour or two once you start talking or browsing.0 -
No that's not a normal battery life for an S2. Its worth checking to see if any apps are running in the background. Are you on official rom or a customized one? I'm on customized and get way more than 12hrs life out of my phone and on official the battery lasted longer then it does now.0

You need to turn off auto account synchronization, and check if there are any apps running that are preventing the phone from sleeping.
Using my SGS2 for normal day to day stuff I can get 2 days out of the battery.0 -
get an extended battery http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Extended-Battery-Cover-Galaxy/dp/B005FYHRY8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334748501&sr=8-2
it will last longer and do the above first to find the rogue add,
i can get two or 3 days usage with the battery on ca few callsthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
I have to recharge my SGS2 every night without fail. The battery life is definitely worse than my iPhone was.
I'm going to buy the bigger battery as I've heard good things about them.0 -
Also, adjust the screen brightness, if you've not done so already. Make sure it is on automatic and not full brightness as this does have an effect on the battery life.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Try downloading something like Better Battery Stats and have a look at the partial wake locks.

It might not help with battery life but why don't you plug it in overnight so as to ensure a. your alarm goes off and b. it is charged for the next day.0

I definately get 36 hours plus out of a full charge on mine. Did you fully charge the battery when it was new? In your shoes I'd check all the app settings, then put the phone on charge SWITCHED off for a full uninterrupted 12 hours.
I'm trying to get into the habit of putting mine on charge every night, but it isn't a disaster if I forget.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

No, your phone is not faulty. Auto account sync will definitely kill the battery! Uncheck it under settings. From the usage you have described you should get a couple of days from a single charge.
Also try turning off the phone and back on again as sometimes a process can crash causing huge drain on battery life.0
