Cap One ppi

Options
I had a cap one credit card in 2004 which had ppi on it. I only paid about £90 as I realised it wouldnt help much if I needed to claim as I was self employed. It was automatically added to my card. I have claimed the ppi back on my Halifax card but that was quite easy. I have heard it is nearly impossible to get money back from Cap one but with the 8% interest and the contractual interest it will add up to a few hundred pounds. Is it just the questionairre and spreadsheet you have to send in or is there anything else that goes with it? Thank you for your help.

You only need the card number and reasons for mis sell, you do not need a spread sheet, just the questionnaire, keep a copy of this in case you have to take this to FOS.

I would maybe ring them to make sure they have your complaint..I sent my complaint letter to cap one recorded delivery I checked the online signature and it was signed for the next day, yet two weeks later no aknowledgment, so I rang them to be told we don't have your complaint, to which I replied yes you do it was signed for 2 weeks ago, I even told them who signed for it, they simply argued back they did not have it :mad:and told me to log online and resend it via the secure message system :mad:good job I kept copies, suprise suprise I recieved an acknowledgement to my second sent complaint 2 days later :eek:I'm sure I read somwhere on here someone had the same situation as me they sent it recorded and cap one kept telling them they didn't have it and to resend

Thanks for this thread Tillydot I am in the exact same position as you. I took out a Cap1 card at the same time and paid about £92. I had to activate my card by phone and felt that it wouldn't be activated by the customer advisor until I had agreed to PPI. I sent my ppi reclaim letter back and am still waiting for acknowlegement. Thanks to Calw's info I may have to resend, thankfully I kept a copy of the paperwork.

My Cap One letter was sent via recorded and is apparently still going through the postal system - I'm wondering if they are not signing for post or accepting it.

Cap one have a good reputation for complaints handling. So, much so that the FOS only overturned 11% of the complaint rejections in the last 6 months of 2011.

This either indicates they have a good documentation audit trail and can support the sale of their products or that they are paying out on most cases and only rejecting suspect complaints.

Octonut, I am in the same position. I sent two letters to Capital One, when I checked Royal Mail, it said the letters were still progressing through the system. I sent the letters two weeks ago! However, I then checked the Capital One site and they gave 4 weeks for acknowledgement, so I will give it another two weeks and keep checking Royal Mail.

I have kept copies of everything so I may try the secure message route or go straight to the FOS if I get no joy from Capital One.

I also had a Cap1 card in 2004 & PPI payments were added onto the statements each month, it was only after being made redundant in 2007 I got in touch with them to see how I could make a claim. I was asked a lot of questions whether it was voluntary or compulsory etc & when I explained it was officially compulsory due to NHS cutbacks but the NHS had given me a package giving me my pension as I was over 50 & had worked with them for over 10 years that the advisor said as I had received a lump sum I could therefore make my monthly payments or pay off my balance. Maybe so but what was the point in having PPI & paying out all that money each month?
I did pay off my balance eventually but feel I was initially mis sold the policy in the first place.
I sent off the questionnaire in Sept 2011 & they sent me a rejection letter & a copy of my application form where there was a tick in the box (I can't honestly remember doing so) but it does state in the event of sickness & redundancy.
If any one can advice me what to do next I'd be grateful as it's really bugged me over the years at having to pay for something which wasn't needed.

PS I sent exactly the same questionnaire to Barclays re my loan they not only paid me for that loan but went back to old loans from 2001 so well done Barclays.
