Are there any alternatives to Royal Mail after the price changes from 30 April 2012?

So how much notice is taken of small businesses anyway? Big business can make their own representations and get their own reductions. The consumer gets a hearing but they will basically be saying "don't put prices up". Small business covers such a range and has no coherent voice. Looking on here some are up in arms with the change to the packet rate and some are over the moon with it. So essentially RM can do what they like within reason and staying competitive. No courier wants to offer the facility to take a letter from Lands End to John O'Groats for 50p.Ofcom consulted in November / December while Royal Mail's online postage wasn't working, so all the ebayers and smaller shopkeepers were licking stamps rather than looking for consultation pages..0
