  • My Smyth's catalogue came through the door today!! Woohoo! Could spend a fortune...

So sorry about the DH DS mix up. Feel awful for you all - and the frustration levels must be so high. I don't have the patience Lucky.

This morning Jellytot was screaming the place down, deafening me, kicking me in the stomach, throwing everything in sight. Refusing everything from breakfast to the strawberry calcium gummy she has every morning and loves. I tried to get paracetamol down her as she was blatantly feeling under the weather (teething cold & nappy rash) and she kept spitting it at me whilst deliberately snorting snot all down her face.. I lost my cool and I knew she wasn't well. I shouted at her, and I even smacked her leg. Which I really rarely do and felt terrible about afterwards when she finally calmed down enough to take her medicine. Sorry for the ramble; my point was, I genuinely don't know how you do it.

And DS2 saying to the teacher... broke my heart a little bit for you all. Wish there was a magic button Lucky. :grouphug:

  • I'm certainly not perfect Lilt, and to prove it I lost my cool last night too. DH's friend rang him accidently last night ....at 2am!! Why was he even up then?!?! Anyway, DH slept through it but it woke me up and I found it difficult to get back to sleep. I had just about managed it an hour later, when DS2 burst in saying he'd had a bad dream. At first I was lovely caring concerned Mummy, talking it through with him, giving him cuddles and discussing other topics he could think about. However, when he still wouldn't go back to sleep 2 hours later I turned in to nasty snarling punishment giving Mummy :o. He kept shouting and wailing so loud I thought he was going to wake the others up and I basically said, 'shut up and go to sleep or I will bin all your costumes in the morning!!'. He went to sleep then!
Don't know why I worried about DH waking up, he missed the whole thing and woke nice and refreshed this morning .

Today DH got weighed and lost 3lbs. I got weighed and stayed the same despite being better than DH had been food wise. How is that fair? Damn hormones!!

It's a good job I love him or he'd be right off the team today :rotfl:.

We went to the driving range today and DH and MiL's friend hit some golf balls. MiL and I watched/had a coffee. It was nice to see DH getting involved in something and it only cost £4.50 for a basket of balls:T. MiL paid for the coffee :D. FiL was a keen golfer (almost professional!) and he and DH used to play a lot when DH was young. MiL kept his clubs when FiL passed away, so DH used those today. He really enjoyed it.

  • Afternoon PLBL,

Oh don't get me started about losing the plot, my Ds pushes me to the limit most days. I do hate it when I lose my patience with him, but he can be so unreasonable sometimes. It certainly is nice to hear that others don't hold it together all the time also.

Shame about the gloves mix up but even in a fully fit and able household stuff gets forgotten and left behind etc etc. I often have to do the quick trip back home to collect something we forgot. So don't stress to much xxx

Lovely that Dh and you had a nice day at the Driving Range. Do you think it might be a hobby your dh might like to get back into. Could be nice relaxation for him and you ;)

    Keep going hun xxx
  • I think we will make it fairly regular Steph but perhaps not very regular, as the honest truth is we can't afford for it to be a weekly thing or something. DH and the boys also want to start rock climbing again so that will be another expense to find somehow.

I slept really well last night for a change, but I'm still shattered. Glad it's my Drs appointment tomorrow.

Beanie, are you out there? Thinking of you Hun Xx

  • Doctors tomorrow... hope everything goes well Lucky and they actually take your concerns on board. Please do mention hormones, stress levels, and dealing with DH. There may be something stress related causing all this, and the sleep disruptions would be enough to damage a very healthy person.

As for losing the plot, join the club. Jelly is only 2, and was poorly, but after the third kick in the stomach, calpol repeatedly spat and sprayed all over me and heavy nasty toys launched at my head, I had enough. Screaming abdabs, pinning her to her changing table, trying to get the syringe in her mouth when she scratched me! I smacked her leg :( and shouted. And when she kicked me again I left her in her bedroom and shut the door on her wailing. Eventually she calmed down and came like a wild animal, slowly coaxed into eating her haliborange calcium gummy, then the medicine once I had repeatedly pretended to drink it myself making over the top YUMMMMM noises. And then I cut her nails and it all started over again. Couldn't have her scratching the kids at nursery. Was glad to see the back of her and she was much better when she came home.

No fair on DH losing! Still, you didn't gain! Brownie points! Be good this week and you will have a good loss for sure!! xx

  • Cheers Lilt, doctors appt went fine, I have to go back first thing in the morning for blood tests and they will test me for anaemia, thyroid problems and vitamin D deficiency etc. my blood pressure is borderline high too :(.

I hope Jelly has behaved herself today!

DH hasn't been right today, waves of fear and feeling down. Not fun Xx

  • Hi Lucky

just popping in to say I have read your diary from page 1 over the last few months on my teabreaks at work. I am astounded at how well you cope and it makes me appreciate how self centred my own life is as I get ratty and girny (as we say up here) if my sleep is broken even for one night - it is not coincidence that it is used as a form of torture so I have no idea how you cope with all the broken nights sleep.

If it is helpful, my poor wee dad has been diagnosed with Parkinsons and when he relaxes at night the tremor is worse and my poor mum was being jerked about all over the place. They now use two single beds with single quilts pushed very close together so it does not really take up more space than their old bed and still looks to the casual glance as one bed but it means mum doesn't get disturbed but they are still close to each other to hold hands. It may also help Mr Lucky if he is subconsciously disturbed by the bed being hotter cos the two of you, and often more, all generating heat !

Feel free to ignore, only offered as a helpful suggestion,

oh, and its really important to take care of yourself cos as you see you are the lynchpin and things would be so much worse if you were unable to help everyone else. You wont rem all your early post but buying more toys and other stuff when you were down to one bra and 10 year old trainers !! lol, come on, would you have supported a pal if she was telling you she was doing these things ??? Its not bigheaded to acknowledge that you are the most vital person in that house and it is not in any way "wrong" to spend some time on yourself cos you know it pays dividends back to the family when you are feeling better. Oh sorry, did that turn into a wee bit of a rant ? It wasn't meant to - these things never look the same when i write them as when i would be saying them to a dear friend with a "look" on my face so she knows i am being sarcy !!! lol, take care friend cos although you don't know me, i feel that you are and i agree wholeheartedly with the other posters who wish there was something practical i could do rather than just words on a screen. Sorry, post turned into a bit more than just Hello lol:wave:

  • Hi Daisy, thank you so much for taking the time to read my whole diary and then posting too. It's humbling that you spent your tea breaks reading my ramblings!

I can see the logic of 2 single beds but a)the cost would be an issue right now and b) I rely on the shaking of the bed to wake me if Mr Lucky has a seizure! The noise would probably be enough, but I worry it won't. Something to think about though, especially as he was jerky again last night which disturbed me.

I know I need to take care of me too. I had my blood tests done today and I should get the results Monday for some of them (sugars, anaemia and thyroid), but apparently it takes longer for Vitamin D testing. Glad it's all being checked though. In the meantime I might treat myself to a bath tonight with one of the lovely bath bombs I got for my birthday!!

This morning was supposed to be a morning off for me as DH and his paramedic friend went on a long cycle ride. I had promised DS1 however that I would go out and buy him the new Xbox game that was released today (he was paying for it with his birthday money) after having my bloods done. We had been too late to preorder it last weekend so I had promised to get it for him while he was at school, but everywhere had sold out of the Ultimate edition that he wanted by 9.30am this morning :(. Cue me going round 6 different places for 2 blinkin hours, until I eventually found it (highly overpriced). I could have cried at how much it was, but he was adamant it would be worth it. By the time I got home I was exhausted, DH was back and it was time to make lunch! We then went to a coffee afternoon at DS1's school before being allowed to bring him home early so we could be back to collect DS2 from school in time.

Yesterday was a hard day, as it would have been my Goddaughter's 17th birthday, the first one she's missed since she passed away at New Year. It's made me really quite down. The news is also very depressing/disturbing. I'm feeling very uneasy at the moment and finding it hard to shake off. I'm hoping some quality time with the family over the weekend will perk me up again Xx

  • Bath was fabulous! I used a 'champagne & strawberries' bath bomb. T'was lush!

Made the mistake of trying to have a relaxing bath while the boys were still up though.

Epic fail :rotfl:. Everyone wanted me to get out so they could try it. DH included :rotfl:.

Simultaneously watching Xfactor and Strictly. Feeling dizzy with all the channel hopping :p.
