Just dropping by to say hello and hope you're not feeling too down. I really feel for your friend, can't even begin to imagine how she's coping.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Thank you so much for your support everyone, it means a lot.

I've been quite down (understandably) and haven't been posting as much as usual, but I shall try to get back on track. Today we met my cousin (the one that came to the funeral with me) and her son at a softplay centre. We had both agreed yesterday that we need to spend as much time as possible together no matter how busy life gets. Losing M reminded us how precious life is. Xx

  • I really need that hug right now Granny!

    Awful, awful night.

Started with DS1 not being able to go to sleep which in turn meant I wasn't allowed to go to sleep. Last I heard from him was ten past midnight. He will be a barrel of laughs today as I have to wake him soon for school :(.
12.40am DS2 came into our room. He'd had a bad dream apparently (more like his brother had disturbed him) and needed to sleep with us. For the next 4 hours I was punched, kicked and had my hair pulled while trying to sleep on a bit of bed the width of a window ledge. At 5am I gave up and went downstairs with DS2's quilt (he is in a half size bed or I would have got in it!).
At 5.17am I heard it through the ceiling. DH was having a seizure.
Bolted upstairs and seizure lasted about 5 mins. Didn't fully regain consciousness and then started again so I rushed back downstairs to get the Buccal Midozolam. When I came back up he was coming out of it and kept mumbling about 'not sleep downstairs'. I feel awful that him worrying may have caused it :(. He didn't have use of his left side again but that came back after about 20 mins and he could move his arm. I asked him not to get up.
DS2 slept through the whole thing beside him and is still asleep on my bed. DS1 hasn't stirred despite lights on in the hall etc. I haven't given DH the Buccal Mid as he is now sleeping normally again, but it's ready to go if he has another seizure.
I've cleaned the bathroom and put some washing in. Currently sitting on the floor upstairs as I don't want to go too far incase he goes again.

    And breathe!! Xx

  • PLMBL, i'm so sorry you have had such a truly awful few days, my thoughts are with you and I'm sending you hugs.

I did wonder If DS1 wasn't sleeping because he is worried about you and picked up that you had been down the last few days, as from what you have posted in the past about him he seems a very sensitive little boy, I know my daughter can be the same and will pick up on my changing moods even if I try to be happy and jolly.

    Try totake it easy sweetheart.x.

Oh honey what an awful weekend you've had. I wondered the same about DS1 tbh and sounds like DH was also worried about you. Just sorry that their worrying has caused extra worry for you. Bit of a vicious circle really.

Hope DH rests peacefully now and you are able to get some rest today

  • Oh Hunny :( I wish I could give you a real one but you'll just have to make do with this one (((hugs))) :( . I was also wondering the same as Granny & Penny, my kids are very sensitive to how i'm feeling and when i'm upset they react without even knowing it I think and my being unsettled causes them to be the same. I hope your DH is ok after the seizure and just sleeps it off now. And I really hope that the boys are so tired by tonight that they fall into bed at 6pm for you.

Going back to an earlier post about spending as much time with loved ones as possible I think you're right and it's only when something awful happens like it has to you and your friends family that you realise this. Thanks for the reminder xxx
