  • Feeling quite down this morning. It's been building for a few days but I've just tried to ignore it. Can't quite put my finger on what exactly I'm upset about (apart from the obvious), but I'm feeling upset and angry at myself rather than anyone else. Feel like a mess and a failure. Now I'm upset at myself because that sounds self indulgent.

Will paint my happy face on because I don't want to spoil the family meal, but would rather go back to bed.

A year today since DH's first seizure . Can't believe it's been that long already Xx

  • Aaaw hun, you are allowed to feel abit down, but please don't feel angry at yourself, you are fabulous and have had a lot on your plate lately.

Try to think of something (cheap ;)) that you can do soon, something that makes you happy and allows you some ME time.

    You deserve it. xxxx
  • It's no wonder you are feeling the way you are, you're only human and you must be working through a number of feelings with everything that has happened in the last year. You're a strong woman :) i've no doubt you can get through it, come on here and let it all out if you don't want to get family down by sharing with them. It can be very therapeutic writing it all down, I know I always feel better when I get it all out in one way or another :)

I hope you have a nice meal today and kids are back at school soon so if you want to go back to bed for rest you can do very soon ;)

    ((((big hugs)))) xx

Honey, please don't be so hard on yourself, anyone that had been through want you've gone through lately would have reason to feel sad

It's your diary so say what you feel, not what you think we want to hear. We want to know how you are, so we can help emotionally as much as we can from 'the box'

Hope the meal goes well. Be as kind to you as you would to someone you know going through this. It does get easier, but its early days yet

  • Thanks all. I really appreciate all your kind comments :A. Meal was really nice and I got through it ok. My uncle paid the bill and everyone gave him the cash for theirs, but he would only take £20 from me! As my Mum and Grandma had given me £10 each towards the meal, effectively it was free.

One of DH's friends from years ago has been in touch. He had a car crash 8 years ago resulting in a head injury and the loss of sight in one eye. DH and he have had a long chat about their injuries/feelings/problems etc and I think it's been good for him. There are many similarities between them, particularly anger issues, depression and the loss of sense of smell. They are going to start running together which is great.

I'm feeling better than I did this morning but still feel kinda under a black cloud. I'm just constantly tired and can't be bothered with anything.

  • Glad the dinner was nice :) and great news about it being free!

Do you exercise at all? I find even a gentle form of exercise helps lift the black clouds on down days. Maybe a cycle ride, a walk, some gentle yoga or stretching? I didn't exercise for years :o aside from school runs and usual running around after kids! But when I started a regular routine I found it really helped clear my head and the depression.

  • DH and I were going to the gym earlier in the year but stopped after DH's last seizure/finding out I was pregnant/schools broke up so no free time. We are going to start going back again in the next couple of weeks when DS2 is at nursery full mornings. He starts on Wednesday but they phase them in an hour at a time to start. In the meantime we could fit in a walk I'm sure Xx

There's a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE] lot of difference between a physically fit, but depressed person using exercise to raise their mood, and someone whose depression is actually a symptom of very low Hb and roaring hormones following a mc.

Lucky; suggest you have your Hb checked at the GP surgery before attending the gym or returning to work - for now going for a walk sounds like much better exercise (hasn't MIL got a dog?).

Glad to read that DH has reconnected with his old mate who is also a head-injury [STRIKE]sufferer[/STRIKE] recoverer* - could be very valuable for both of 'em. :)

    * Is that a word? :o
  • Hi there hope you are feeling a little brighter today.

Robin, if recoverer isnt a word it should be. :)

Hormones arent to be trifled with, take that from a post natal depression sufferer.

I agree check with your GP. Hope today is brighter for you xx
