Who I contact regarding wrong time on meter?

The newer dual rate meters I see now are all back up battery types, not tele switch, you would have a box, bigger than the meter alongside it if was a tele switch type.Your clock is only 10 mins fast, I ve checked plenty of them and thats not too uncommon to be a little bit out. so your cheap rate will be 1.40 am to 8.40 ( i think!) assuming its 12.30 to 7.30 as it is in my area. Times vary so the best way is to keep an eye on it around the switchover times and watch for either, blinking cursers, flashing readings or the reading being displayed changing. Most meters have some way of showing night from day, but some dont. You would have to note which read advances to see then.Ignore "T for total, you will have R 1 and R2 to fathom.Usually R1 would be the day rate, but could just as well be R2.0

If you have a tele-switch the times stay the same.
Here in the East Midlands it is 01.00 - 08.00 all year round. - Frequently checked by me, ex metering department East Midland Electricity Board[/QUO
I'm afraid they don't. Whilst they may in east midlands, that is not the case for other regions. In one region there is a large group of meters that actually switch the opposite way to BST then back to GMT.
Meter operators never know how teleswitch meters are working since there is no national document showing the times for each setting. The only way to check is to monitor the D0029 data flow sent to suppliers and data collectors. If you monitor that over time, you will see that some categories of settings change so much that there is no pattern.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
To add to Sacsquacco's point...the actual teleswitching signlal can often be out by 15 mins, but I've seen it out by an hour before. The signal is sent nightly so providing it is correcting, it might only be for a day or day. So, check it over a week to be sure.
Good luck anyone trying to find someone in a supplier who even knows this...its trusted that the distributor is doing it based on what i like to call the old "golf course" agreements.
I can honestly say I've even seen a meter group that changed almost daily over 12 months.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Thanks everyone for all your replies - I was told at some point by Atlantic that Economy7 was 11.30pm-6.30am GMT, so have always rushed to get the big stuff on in time to get the night time rate (an hour later for BST of course). However, we are in the East Midlands, (apparently 01.00- 0800) so it still looks as though I have time to spare now in the mornings - once again - Yeehah!0

How do you know its these times, from another poster? E7 goes beyond a meter, they break down into different Standard Settlement Codes (SSC) which govern their patterns. These can be different times, so its not simply a matter of saying E7 works X ways.
Ask your supplier to find out. They may struggle as radio teleswitch times have no national documentation like the time switch ones do. At worst, your distributor who owns the process for the signal, can tell you.
Just don't be surpused if its out by up to an hour here and there (most likely 15 mins due to signal relay issues) so plan inside the parameter times.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
It was Atlantic themselves - although it was a few years ago when we switched to them. I wrote the times down at the time, to remind me. They did change our meter a couple of years ago to a "Multi RateWatt Hour Meter" (a white one) Type 5254E-X, which apparently is the property of EON?
I think I'll just carry on as I was before.....trying to do all the major washing and stuff as soon as I get up in the mornings - whilst hoping I'm still within the cheap rate times..........!
Thanks anyway!0 -
I think that meter just defaults to show the rate it is on,rate 1 day will be showing in the daytime, then shows r2 at night0

Well consider that Atlantic were never regional so unless they have approached the distributors to find out every teleswitch setting, they could be operating off some form of poorly researched sheet.
As an example, look at Redring boiler tariff quoted at 18 hrs off peak. Its 17.5 if you check the daily signals sent to the meter...so even the suppliers are basing their charges on incorrect off peak times. Considering that's a factor in determining the unit price...bit of an oversight really!:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
