well thats the thing, you cancel the job fair enough.. but if your going to take the job... do the job but then decide I am only putting in a 1.00 effort as its all I get paid its not right.

That would be like a GP saying to you... I am based in a place where I only make 20k and the doctor in the big city makes 40k... so sorry Mrs Whitelabel I am only going to give you a 20k diagnosis.

The point is, we all know what MF, RA, etc pay... if you are going to TAKE the job then you need to do the same effort as if you were getting 10... 100.... etc.

I think the right word here is detail. I would use the same amount of effort in undertaking a job for a £2 fee as a £20 fee. (Following the brief, observing areas requested, asking the required questions, checking stock, buying said items etc) But when it came to writing the report, I'd write a lot more detail in a £20 report than a £2 report. I take my time writing my reports and like to give well written, considered answers - and for £20 this is fair. For £2, I will tick multiple choice boxes and write a sentence to confirm what took place.

Sorry I am going to have to disagree on this...

Firstly, he will not get canned over this - most likely re-training. Wouldn't everyone's job be easier if we could say "Oh you can get it cheaper xyz" that is the reason companies are going out of business and this guy will moan that he has lost his job when the place shuts!

You need to report these things the MS company and the client are paying for this service, this is lying and well the reason I do video is to capture sh&t like this.

BIB - The thing is you MAY not be buying it but what if he told the next 20 people that, and his colleague told 5 people... the business slowly looses business that is NOT what he is getting paid for.

Whomever stated with MF's fees etc... Don't take the job if I do a job for 1.00 or 100.00 I put the same amount of effort and honesty into it.. Why? Because if you accepted the job you obviously needed the money. I write my reports for MF like I do those who pay more. The day I stop putting my effort in and use excuses like "they don't pay enough for me to...." I will hang up my MS hat.

You are doing a dis-service to the job and to the profession.

    *end rant*

I'm glad I read this, initially I was going to ignore the comment then decided that I was being paid to report on my experience in store and that is what happened. I made sure I explained the rest of the conversation and also how he guided me to a suitable product to buy in store. I filed a truthful report then felt doubly guilty that other people would have just ignored the comment. I'm glad that I'm not completely alone in deciding I should just write down what happened. At the end of the day, I decided if I wasn't going to write what happened in the store, why should they pay me...?

In other news, a man was shockingly rude to me in a phone shop today. I was asked to complain about something specific and he stared me straight in the face and said "What do you expect me to do about it?" Level of guilt involved in that one is zero!

I agree too, I think you have a valid point as to how many people he is telling and it's best to tell the truth as long as its constructive. I also think these are used for training purposes aren't they? Not spying! :)

Good point, remember this is not to get people fired, and in fairness this really doesn't happen unless its a gross misconduct.

You are really pointing out areas for the company to TRAIN their staff.
I think the right word here is detail. I would use the same amount of effort in undertaking a job for a £2 fee as a £20 fee. But why... You took the job, knowing the fee and knowing the comments required? The point is if you NEED that 2.00 then you do what is required -- why start lying on reports (which is what we were talking about omitting things)? IF you don't want to write the answers in full and do the same amount of effort then why take the job?

So what happened if in the 2.00 job it needed a lengthy explanation for something are you saying you wouldn't do it?

Honestly, think about what you are saying it would be like the guy at Mcdonalds saying to you "Hey, im only gonna cook your burger the way I want to because my manager over there makes more than me and its not worth my time.."

I agree too. I did a now RA electric store when RM used to do it. Went in, followed the scenario, asked the question, mos said "Go to Jessops, their cameras are much better and cheaper, the ones we do are !!!!!". Had I been a genuine customer after a camera, that would have been £50ish quid to a rival store. If he did this x 10 a week, that's £500ish quid down the drain.

I was honest in my report. Not really my problem if he got a rollocking, it's not up to me. I doubt very much his job instructions would say recommend a rival store.

I mentioned this in July when I got the email first time

I didnt reply but nothing has happened since then I take it if they are still looking for people for a "project starting soon" which is what it said in my email then

sounds like fishing for clients to approach more like...

Boohoo. That's 12 jobs on the trot on REACT I have had closed on me. Why don't I get any allocations? Boohoo! Is anyone else getting this? I may just stop bothering to apply from now. I get it that new people should be given a chance too, but 12 on the trot!

Oh and Tesco had a selection of printer ink cartridges on clearance in my local extra store. You might want to check yours in case they have any. I saw Lexmark and Canon and HP.

    Yes.
I've not managed to get anything since 2011 despite applying for them!
Same with AA the last month or two (I check as they have a visit I like doing. They had one the other day I really wanted, declined me and then offered me the ridiculous buy a really expensive trainer and return it to them for a tiny fee.

Awwww I feel really guilty. I did an electronics shop and the assistant was very helpful and gave some great advice. I said the item he suggested was a bit more than I wanted to spend and he told me to go on amazon. He's going to get into loads of trouble and he was just trying to be a friendly, helpful man :(

By not telling the truth you are doing yourself (and others) out of a job in future. Retail shops are having a hard time because of the internet and by employing mystery shoppers they are really trying to improve their service levels for the customer. For an assistant to tell someone to go to Amazon quite honestly he deserves to get the sack as he is obtaining his wages under false pretences!
