Awwww I feel really guilty. I did an electronics shop and the assistant was very helpful and gave some great advice. I said the item he suggested was a bit more than I wanted to spend and he told me to go on amazon. He's going to get into loads of trouble and he was just trying to be a friendly, helpful man
This is a dilemma I struggle with. When the person has done an otherwise excellent job I develop selective deafness. And this seems to occur more frequently when I do a mf low fee job. They don't pay enough for me to deal with the bad karma that canning a decent human being would bring.
Fifty pieces of silver anyone?arghhh!!!0 -

This happens a lot and I never mention it. He's being a genuine, decent guy by telling you where to get it cheaper - his workplace would never see it this way, they'll just see it as him losing business. Which makes no sense, because you weren't going to buy the item anyway. If anything, it may get them more business in the future because you welcomed his honesty and are more likely to return when you need something else because you trust his advice.0 -
Boohoo. That's 12 jobs on the trot on REACT I have had closed on me. Why don't I get any allocations? Boohoo! Is anyone else getting this? I may just stop bothering to apply from now. I get it that new people should be given a chance too, but 12 on the trot!
Oh and Tesco had a selection of printer ink cartridges on clearance in my local extra store. You might want to check yours in case they have any. I saw Lexmark and Canon and HP.0 -

They are going downhill in my opinion. They are getting new clients but the fees are getting embarrassing and the work just does not shift at all. There are at least 3 in my area but I am past wasting my time applying for them! They will be on par with RE/MF soon!0 -
just for info: catalyst cheque has arrived today from july jobs0

Also check emails, RA looking for AUDITORS for a hot new project coming soon............0

Sorry I am going to have to disagree on this...
Firstly, he will not get canned over this - most likely re-training. Wouldn't everyone's job be easier if we could say "Oh you can get it cheaper xyz" that is the reason companies are going out of business and this guy will moan that he has lost his job when the place shuts!
You need to report these things the MS company and the client are paying for this service, this is lying and well the reason I do video is to capture sh&t like this.
BIB - The thing is you MAY not be buying it but what if he told the next 20 people that, and his colleague told 5 people... the business slowly looses business that is NOT what he is getting paid for.
Whomever stated with MF's fees etc... Don't take the job if I do a job for 1.00 or 100.00 I put the same amount of effort and honesty into it.. Why? Because if you accepted the job you obviously needed the money. I write my reports for MF like I do those who pay more. The day I stop putting my effort in and use excuses like "they don't pay enough for me to...." I will hang up my MS hat.
You are doing a dis-service to the job and to the profession.
*end rant*0 -

I agree with most of this
except the putting same effort for £1 or £100
I generally wouldn't do the £1 job but the level of detail in report should reflect the fee we get paid.
I always put effort in and report honestly, but I add far more detail to higher paying fees as they are paying for that additional information generally. For £1 I would be prepared to visit a location and confirm it was open and perhaps if an item was in stock, no more no less, but I would also only take it if I was passing or as part of a larger circuit not as a sole job. but had I taken it I would do it and would report honestly in full.
Thats why I wont take low paying fees jobs eg MF as it negates the need not to put the effort in and resentment of companies while doing the reports. People taking low pay fees and then not putting the effort in when they know the level of reporting requested in advance, are doing themselves and others no favours as pointed out. If you take that fee then you should do so honestly and not twist results to suit.
"The day I stop putting my effort in and use excuses like "they don't pay enough for me to...." I will hang up my MS hat. "
While you may hang your head, I will cancel the job (if I didnt know the brief before hand) and stop working for that company...0 -
well thats the thing, you cancel the job fair enough.. but if your going to take the job... do the job but then decide I am only putting in a 1.00 effort as its all I get paid its not right.
That would be like a GP saying to you... I am based in a place where I only make 20k and the doctor in the big city makes 40k... so sorry Mrs Whitelabel I am only going to give you a 20k diagnosis.
The point is, we all know what MF, RA, etc pay... if you are going to TAKE the job then you need to do the same effort as if you were getting 10... 100.... etc.0
