This evening, I will mainly be internally debating whether (and how) to mention a sales assistant's eye-watering BO. :rotfl:

Bit late but I rang one of the MS companies as I didn't know if I should mention a stinky man or not. We agreed to word it something like "there was an unpleasant smell that appeared to originate from the direction the staff member was standing in." So you're not saying he smelled, but you are mentioning a smell and hopefully the boss reading the report will know what you mean :D
Here I go again on my own....

Where do you think SUPER man would go if he wanted some Drugs?

The medicine cabinet? His Mom's house?

Just kidding. I know which one it is now. Sarah Lou has never seen any of those either so we just assumed you lot were making them all up! LOL.

For anyone that has a health shop showing at the moment, might be a good idea to pick one up as the store promotion allows you to get another item for not very much currency (sorry, don't want to make it obvious who the client is!). So if you buy stuff from there anyway, it's an OK one to pick up.

    Hi shoppers,

    A tax question.

Can I definitely claim for the meals I have bought for the MS jobs? I have been looking at the self assessment forms and they say only evening meals when combined with an overnight stay are tax deductable.

Can anyone clarify this please? I would be very grateful!

    SFG x
  • Why would market force pay me a £1 less than the reimbursement I owed. I spent 0.9p over the reimbursement amount allocated but they've stated they will pay me a quid less than the full total. It's written still £x.09 but a quid under my full spend? The payment is still 'pending' and had a ticket to respond to which I have but I am really confused.

You may claim for the meal as an expense if you got a fee with it.

    E.g. £20 Fee and £30 reinbursment

As you had to order (and pay) for the food to get the fee

If you just get £40 to spend on fee and no fee then NO. As it's seen as 'benefited'. You've done the job for the meal, not for the money.

If it's £5 for the fee and £50 meal, this is a grey area. If you claim for the meal Mr Tax man may say, where is the profit in traveling 20 miles, spending 2 hours out, doing a half hour report? You would then have to prove to Mr Taxman it was for the fee not for the 'free' meal.

(although current arguments could include you took a job like this to get on the right side of a company for further, more profitable work).

The grey area depends on how confident you are that A. Mr Tax man will no knock at your door and B. You can convince him your right.

Without quoting the whole lot, a really good summary of a tricky issue.

GFK have lifted the 4 bank jobs per month, done my quota and a load more appeared so applied for another 2 before the rest disappeared again.

Also I noted a dreaded TV shopping channel job for anyone who delights in thinking of ways to say the same thing over and over based on a 30 second interaction.
