I just wondered. If you do a petrol MS and have to buy petrol, would you still claim mileage and expenses for a purchase you were obliged to buy as part of the job? Because you've bought your petrol for the mileage. It just seems a bit odd.0

You claim mileage EVERY SINGLE TIME, without fail, always.
The petrol purchase is needed to do the job so it is an expense, you claim this against tax.
If you start making exceptions in your business a tax audit would have an argument that you should not have any expenses against tax.0 -
I wonder how quickly BARE will allocate those nice computer jobs, I've an afternoon free
Edit: Very quickly and by phone, I am now a happy bunny :-)0 -

What if you did two shops that were right next to each other, presumably that would be an exception and you'd only claim mileage for one job?0 -

You would obviously claim the correct mileage, the question was SHOULD the poster claim mileage in the first place. The answer to that question is ALWAYS.0 -
I have claimed it and would have done. It just seemed a little odd. Thanks for the clarification.0

Fed up with the number of opticians assignments here! My eye condition isn't covered by the NHS for free tests, but get them done for free at the hospital.
I could murder for some freebie painkillers though!
Plus sick of the pizza places as well.0 -

Those fees are crazy good! I thought it was a typo at first! Now I just need to read the 17 pages to find out what I've signed myself up for…0
