How true. This particular model has the best reputation of all, and is rarely seen. One went through our local BCA a couple of months ago, and the dealers were bidding for it - I think it went for around £1400, it was a late model 53 or 54 plate I think, with around 100K on the clock.
The quality of the interiors in these cars is something else, probably the highest standard of leather work outside of Jaguar, Aston and the like.

Someone else who knows little about the Rover cars and the current situation.

The manufacturer is no longer, but X-Part is the parts supplier and have a network of workshops and spares suppliers who deal with MG Rover cars.
Many parts are available same day, or direct from X-Part.
For example, just see the stock of spare parts that Rimmer Bros. carry for MG Rover cars, all available next day.

im a tolerant man but if you read my post i quite clearly said parts on the day
    these cars are turds
you cant have a turd with its wheels off dangling on a ramp waiting while everyone gets into gear sending parts out and hoping when they arrive next day at lunch time if you are lucky that they are the right parts
time is money and if parts arent at the end of the factors line or if it cant be sourced after lunch then they are no good
i said a lot of tecs have moved on from this marque because of this you cannot sit on your ar se awaiting parts for a day and a half
    time is money
its alright up your council house drive of course because the neighbours dont care

    yesterdays cars for yesterday people
  • I had a 1999 v reg 2.0 diesel.

Was fine motor and i had it for a couple of years, changed as i needed an MPV for bigger family etc.

As someone else said Rimmer bros is good for parts if needed.

there are a couple of good rover forums - the mg one and also below

if you want a good service the following bloke is very good and a lot of people would travel distance to use his expertise, i was lucky as he wasn't far from me...

have to say not too sure about the 2.0l petrol engines but those forums should highlight any issues.

Getting spare parts for MG Rover cars is no different to other models of car that are not current - there may be a delay in supplying some parts.

It's just that some people think that just because it's an MG Rover there are problems getting parts, and you see the comments on the internet when someone needs a part for a Rover, and are told "Oh it's a Rover, you can't get the parts for them anymore", (or similar) when it is in stock and readily available from X-Part.

The X-Part network may not be as large as it was before the collapse of MG Rover, but it is still there.

I too can't understand why people make such an issue of getting parts for rovers. I drive a Rover 400 with the excellent L-series diesel engine, and i've never struggled to get parts the same day.

I can buy all service items off the shelf at my local motor factors (not even x-part), and even when it failed it's last MOT on a lower ball joint, guess what, it was on the shelf at the factors there and then.

s b If your trying to suggest body panels aren't available, well I can't comment because I've never needed any, but then again in the real world who needs body panels on a regular basis? I've been driving for years and never needed any!
  • SB you must be looking in the wrong place for parts for these, because i have never had any problem supplying parts of all types for the 25 45 75 zr zs zt in any capacity same or next day.

used to work in a motor factors.

ive got hold of fuel pumps, diesel pumps, steering rack and pumps, bushes, ball joints, mounts, wings, bumpers, wing mirrors, radiators, sumps, oil pans, rear absorbers and springs, same day!.

fuel tank on a next day carrier as well as calipers.
