Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th February. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) andjoin us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help othersthat don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly butif not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you goto bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two dailythreads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all
Rainy today, so no need to scrape the car.
Hubby had a long day yesterday he worked 6:30 'til 6 & then we had to drive to B&Q to buy something for work that had been ordered & not delivered. I don't expect today to be much better.
Tea tonight will be ham, egg & chips that we didn't eat yesterday as we were treated to KFC as a thankyou for driving to B&Q.
I best go start breakfast, I hear movement from upstairs.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you haveto though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does justas well.

Never let success go to your head, never let failure go to your heart.

Morning Hester and all who follow,

Hugs to Molly, LW, Bitsy, Tru, Beth and sunflower.
I hope that Beth and sunflower are still lurking.

It is so cold here at the moment that I have had to put the heating back on and it looks like it is about to start pouring with rain.

Busy day today with lots of dancing for DD1, DD2 and me!

    Hav a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning Guys!

Havent slept very well and in a lot of pain, so hoping nurses will arrive sooner rather than later. The weather is windy, dark and dull and I've been awake since 4.30.

Think I'll just have cottage cheese on cracker bread for breakfast with some tea and maybe a bacon roll in a couple of hrs. WM & DW needs emptying.

OH did the freezer inventory and although theres enough in there for 3-4 weeks, I thought there was more, so am pleased about that. He has got out 2 packets of scrag lamb as they've been in there for months and a chicken for tonights dinner. If they seem ok, then will cook up in SC for a stew or soup to freeze.

Tonight we've decided on chicken, baked spud and salad.

    Hope everyone is well.

    PP

    morning!

had a good nights sleep so am up early - just having a spot of breakfast while I catch up with Titanic from Sunday.

I've decided to drastically cut back on coffee - not had any for 4 days now and I'm sleeping so much better - worth a try for anyone who has trouble sleeping I reckon.:)

    Day off today:j

Off for a haircut at nine the the doctors this afternoon for my medication review that I should have had last week but the surgery mucked up the appointment.

Wet here(saves me having to mow the lawns:T)
Will do a some washing and hang indoors then finish a bit of ironing.

Am making a veg curry for tea. Also got to drive DS to work.

Have a good day all x
    Do what you love :happyhear

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Very blustery and raining here this morning and is forecast to stay that way for the rest of the week! DH up and off to work early but not stupid early.

Work yesterday as expected was horrendous, we were so busy; the seats in the customers waiting area were full and they were queuing along the walls!:eek::eek: Hoping today will be a little less manic. Remembered to go to the garage to have my new tyres fitted, garage guys were excellent they were waiting for me when I arrived and they had 2 guys straight on to the job and within 20 minutes all done.:):) Tonight after work have to take car to another garage to be ready for the service and MOT that's booked for tomorrow - more expense but it's got to be done.

Kids back to school today, much to my relief - they were starting to suffer with cabin fever and were getting bored, not that they would admit to that! Tonight's dinner is an easy one as I'm not expecting to be home very early as the garage is the other side of town, menfolk will be having pie, chips and beans, I'll be having jacket potato with tuna mayo and salad or omelette and salad - will decide when I get back.

My items are still not attracting any attention on ebay at all and it's all good stuff - will have to wait and see. It's all too good to just get rid of, may have to hold on and see if there's a local car boot I could go to.

Just have to work all day today, then half day tomorrow then I'll be on day's off until Monday - house looks like a tip and we're going away on Friday night for the weekend - so I have my work cut out as house needs lots of attention, washing basket is full, and I need to pack for the weekend and do some baking/cooking as I haven't done any for a few weeks and have noticed how much it helps when I do bake.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning chums very gloomy and overcast today in N.Kent forecast is rain which is badly needed .I had a bad night with my joints ,must be all the dampness it ususally affects them like that.Just got the school run this morning then home to attack mount ironing and a bit of catch-up t.v.Back to let the dogs out at lunchtime for Dd then back home to put my feet up until 3.30 when I pick my DGS up from school and then home to their house and its three cheese toasties and two slices of toast for the boys when they get in as they don't have their dinner until gone seven so a snack keeps them going .DD or son-in-law arrives home between 6.30 and 7 and I come home and thats another day done .When I'm at Dds after school I usually do the veg prep and depending on their dinner will start it for her around 6.00. I'm kept fairly busy during the week so at week-ends I tend to flop on the sofa and do nothing but the days just fly by.There are times when I could do with another 6 hours in my day to get up-to-date with everything but my life certainly is never boring or mundane ,just blooming busy :):)I work harder now than I did before I retired :)Still its all good fun and I don't mind really I am looking forard to my spring holiday though, just hope the sun shines a bit more
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing and <<hugs>> to those who are in need
    Cheers chums

    Morning all

Thoughts and hugs are with those who need them, there seems to be quite a few about right now x

Miserable here today, couldn't be bothered to do more then 10 mins of cardio this morning, will regret that when I weigh in on Thursday.

Not much to report today, going to work shortly, will get OH a steak for dinner if he's been paid, if not crispy chicken, chips and beans for him and chicken and salad for me.

    Morning all

    Showery here too.

I need to pop to office to print some things out this morning before I pick up my work kids, that's the one annoying thing about working remotely, no printer or pc! But I'm back in my normal office from Friday :j

No plans tonight apart from uni work, chipping away at it steadily. fancy omlette for tea so will make one.

OS wise - dishes to wash, hoover to go over.

    Have a good day all

Thanks for that taplady i've been drinking quite a bit of coffee and waking up at 2 every morning so will try cutting back, or going for decaf
Tipping with rain here. Day 2 of short courses so more scrummy food lunch time, then i'm down to main campus to attend a workshop on coaching students. Be interesting to see how coaching fits with education. Heard a great description of difference between education and training on the radio. If your teenage daughter says she's had sex education at school that's ok but if she sez she's had sex training you're straight on the phone to the head :rotfl:
