Selfridges problem

...the pan has a max temp of 350c I think so it'd be hard to hit that.
On page two of this document (ok, maybe not an authoratitive source) we are told...The gas in the flames on the hob of a gas cooker vary greatly in temperature but at their hottest part are probably around 1000 °C.0 -
It sounds like you got lucky - I'm guessing you went to Selfridges with the same attitude you came here with, and unlike this place, they gave you what you wanted just to get rid of you?
It's great that you got the pan replaced, but please, try and learn not to ask for advice if what you really want is for someone to validate your already formed opinion. This should be a basic skill for anyone over the age of about 9.0 -

Exactly what i wanted to say.All the care instructions on the Le Creuset website advise that their products should be used on medium to low heat settings. Never on high.
In fact the products you can use in the oven are only to be used up to 220 degrees so i don't know where the OP got the 350 figure from. It also says that non stick coatings aren't covered by their guarantee. I think Selfridges did what they did to see the back of the customer.
Le Creuset themselves refused to do anything about my non stick pan, i wasn't too bothered really as i've had it for years and only noticed the 10 year guarantee stickers on a recent visit to their shop so thought i'd ask.0 -
On a semi-related note, I have to say that this thread has turned me away from Le Creuset cookware. I've always had this idea that they're top of the range kit, but it seems that they're merely the most expensive. To be top of the range it should a) handle whatever I can throw at my substandard cookware with ease, and b) the manufacturer should take responsibility for any issues with their product. Saying "We guarantee our pan unless it's made useless because the non-stick coating failed" is not good enough given the prices they charge.0

Whilst a lot of the tone of this thread is not pleasant, I have Le Creuset Toughened Non-Stick (TNS) pans for my new induction hob and they are BRILLIANT - the best non-stick by a long way. So don't be put off yet!Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0

I think they're overpriced too for what they are. I've had a set of pans for nearly 29 years (not Le Creuset !) they're stainless steel, none of them are non stick, and they look just the same now as they did when i bought them. The Le Creuset pans i have (a marmitout and a large frying pan) were both bought as gifts, they're not a patch on my others. You're paying for the name really.0
