    ^Still not getting it.

    Any consumer rights advice???
If you don't think you have had any advice, then can I suggest...

You ship the thing back to whoever supplied it to you.

Leave them to make arrangements with their supplier.

However good Martin Lewis is, even he can not make laws that only suit only the consumer.

I'm sorry that you see that telling you what your actual legal position is doesn't meet with your requirements ......may I respectful suggest that you lobby parliament to create a law that says what ever the consumer wants the retailer has to provide.

    Some people ......

Theoldcynic, I know you are trying to help but sadly they also want proof of purchase...
Return it, with proof of purchase...
Oops... they then go on to suggest that it be returned...
to the retailer from which it was purchased...
    ;)

    The whole paragraph says this.
Return it, with proof of purchase, to the retailer from which it was purchased, or to the appropriate address given for your country of residence. For customers who live in the UK, please call our friendly Customer Service team on the UK freephone 0800 37 37 92, open from Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, or e-mail us at helpline@lecreuset.co.uk.

Give Le Creuset a call, it's a freephone number, see what they say.

    They do say earlier on...
The guarantee applies from the date of purchase for the lifetime of the original owner, whether a self purchase or received as a gift.

I never said I don't have proof of purchase, the person who has it lives 300 miles away from me (I did say this earlier!), so getting it isn't easy.

I just thought as it's defective it'd be easier just to send it back to them and have them replace it.

Thank-you to the people who have offered useful advice but, I can see from the responses that only 3 in 10 of the people who use this site should be offering advice as only they have capability to understand a question respond in a non-flaming, helpful and useful way.

@wealdroam is the type of person who be struck from the board, trying to put me down because I had a problem with a debt collector, scum.

Erm, I wouldn't describe the debt collector as the problem, it's the debtor that's avoided paying for 4 1/2 yrs. within the next year I imagine this will go to court so your problems are only going to get worse

OP, what is so difficult about getting proof of purchase if your friend does still have it?

It can be posted to you, scanned to a pc and emailed to you or a clear photo taken and either posted, emailed or uploaded to the internet for you to save and print off.

As soon as you have that things will be much easier for you whether you choose to deal with the retailer or the manufacturer.

OP, you asked specifically whether you needed proof of purchase and most, if not all posters have told you you do, despite you arguing the toss and calling others unhelpful. If you don't like the advice you've been given then can I suggest you go and troll another site for information.

Yes, that is exactly what I understood from your first post.

As difficult as sticking a stamp on an envelope.
I imagine some people will struggle with that.
