Just be aware it is able to spread to removable drives.
http://www.mcafee.com/threat-intelligence/malware/default.aspx?id=147094It can also drop a copy of itself as asc3360pr.scr, asc3360pr.pif or asc3360pr.exe onto the following Windows drive types and creates an Autorun.inf to auto-execute itself:- Unknown drive type (Type 0)
- Removable media (Type 2) - e.g. USB drives.
- Remote network drive (Type 4) - e.g. shared folders.
Use another computer to inoculate any USB drives first.

Oh great. Should have bought that new computer after all as i'm going to have too now as don't have Windows disc (Windows came installed)0 -
What's the exact make/model? Does it have a recovery partition that you know of? If not, You can get the disk(s) from the manufacturer probably.
You can always try to remove it you want - I'd recommend the kaspersky boot disk for that - but I'd always recommend wiping the drive and reinstalling first & foremost if you can .

I can delete or do I have to edit something?
Dont mess about with your registry if you dont know exactly what you are doing.
The registry is what makes the computer work and the wrong files amended/deleted can destroy your home system.
It might be worth installing a free virus protection program such as AVG free as a number of the paid for ones arent that good and even when working can slow down your computer.
Free version works just as well as the paid for and you get regular updates.
Have a look at spyware checker programs as well as Spyware can be downloaded from sites without you knowing and cause havoc with your machine.
You could also try googling the error message as quite often this gives a lot of info.
If you can afford it consider moving to a MAC as they dont have any of these problems and although they cost more are well worth the cash.0 -
Will respond ASAP. Currently on a phone as pc is scanning using a cleaner from avg that says it specifically cleans this virus.
So far 3 corrupt files temp\_av_sfx_tm x 2 and msi live update0 -
Kaspersky do one too.

The reason I suggest wiping & reinstalling is that 1; you might not get it all so there's chance of reinfection - so any time you've spent trying to remove it is time wasted, and 2; files can be left corrupted by the either the virus or the disinfection process - meaning programs may have to be reinstalled and system files replaced or repaired - which may mean a repair install of windows anyway.
With a wipe & reinstall you know you're going to get it first time.0 -
Well, it's letting me run virus programs now but I still have issues.
With regards to whether I have a partition? How will I know?
On my safe mode I have Windows Recovery Console. Any good?0 -

Siemens Fujitsu Esprimo E5905.
Recovery partition??? Windows recovery console if I press F8 at startup. It was a refurbished one.
I may have to reformat but need to save Data first - could take me a while.Dont mess about with your registry if you dont know exactly what you are doing.

I have Avast free after some problems a few weeks ago and I won't mess with the registry if possible.
I only have Avast and MalwareBytes now. Malwarebytes deleted a couple earlier.
I did google and used the avg tool - it deleted a few things but don't think i'm fully clean.
How much are MAC's and are second hand ones worth looking at? Can I do the same kind of things as a Windows PC?0 -
Don't consider buying a new pc or mac just because of a virus infection. Waddler's spot-on with re-infectors...best thing to do is back up all your stuff (carefully, including scanning the backups before reinstating them) and reinstalling windows after wiping the hdd. If you don't have a windows disk, if you've got a valid COA on the base, you just need an image of the correct version of windows to burn to a disk and reinstall...I'm sure someone like Take This will be able to point you to a download of the correct version...he's good at that sort of thing

p.s. after a fresh install, you'll probably think you've got a new pc anyway
