There should be a selection button on your wireless security settings. Turn WEP Encryption to "OFF"

Just to let you know...finally sorted!

I cant get one of my daughters pc to share shared folder, it wont reconize other pcs on the network, yet it will connect to net using wireless router. I ran the network wizard to share folder uses right domain name for network, but I am stuck why it wont work, it use to work fine

Ensure her laptop's firewall is not blocking file sharing etc ...

You have indeed proved that you are not an idiot by not giving up. I do hope however that you did not get the connection working by disabling the encryption! Please confirm that your wireless network is indeed securely encrypted. You will get more help here if needed.
