SSID is the name of the network (e.g defaults to linksys, netgear).
The encryption key is the code which scrambles the signal so other can't intercept or attach to your network. That is the wep key/ wpa key/wireless key/network key/encryption code..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
...so what goes in the SSID box?Mark Hughes' blue and white army0

unless you have ssid disabled broadcasting, the ssid should come up as an available network, when you scan for networks, it is usually the brand of your router, unless you have changed it.
which router is it?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

It's probably btvoyagersomethingorother, it should appear when you look at the available network list. If not,
attach it with an ethernet cable to any PC, and go here:

Got loads of numbers, Wireless BSSID followed by numbers and colons
Is that it?Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
Well the ssid is normally readable, but if you have put in a hex key by mistake, that could account for the gibberish.
You can change it to anything you like.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
I think I'm going to give up
I've found the SSID, found the encryption code, but it still won't connect. I've changed the preference so that the Belkin is controlling the wireless stuff, but still no luck.
So in summary...i have a code on the router which is secure and won't allow my pci card to connectBack to the helpline I guess...

Try disabling the encryption and see if you can connect without it.0 -
