Santander 123 Cashback (Merchant Codes = 1%, 2%, 3%)

If you look at the Santander website, it saysExceptions to the rates of cashback you receive
Cashback at the rates above is earned at retailers categorised as supermarkets, department stores, petrol stations, passenger railways or railroads merchants by MasterCard.
There are a few exceptions to the rate of cashback that will be awarded to you. For example, Marks & Spencer stores are defined as a supermarket (not a department store), so you will earn 1% cashback there. Some petrol stations may be classed as supermarkets too depending on if they are part of the supermarket or a separate business.

What she couldn't tell me was whether Aldi or Lidl counted as supermarkets though. I can see from the list above that Aldi is on there, but Lidl?
TIA
Lidl is on the list. Follow the link. Type LIDL into the search field.0 -
Got our first bill yesterday. Put what I reckoned were the rebate rates against each transaction and our local Lidl has produced 1% return, even though it doesn't show on the list.
And fortunately the 3% is also there from out nearest Shell fuel station, and that's not on the list either.
This shows me that the retailer code is correct, and that the online list may not be comprehensive, but it doesn't matter.0 -
I've just realised that 1% also applies to The 99p Stores. It all adds to the bargain factor

I'm not sure about the % rates but am quite sure that VFM4 looks very hot. Are you single per chance

Just found this thread and have worked out that my local Asda, where I buy most of my fuel, is only listed as a supermarket and doesn't appear to have a separate fuel code, despite the fact that it shows up clearly as petroleum on my Santander statement.
That would explain the discrepancy between my calculations and theirs :-(
However, my local Waitrose, which has an upstairs that sells stuff other than groceries, is listed as both a supermarket and a department store, which is good news. I suppose I just need to be careful about which till I go to.0 -

Shell fuel "fuelsave" near me is 1p dearer than ASDA and the same price as Tesco.
So as well as giving more MPG (checked on a spreadsheet - ASDA fuel for over 2 years, then Shell for over 3 years - Shell is 1.5% better), it makes Shell actually cheaper with 123 cashback of 3%.0
