Put my car on Gumtree for sale and within an hour i have someone asking if they can collect it tomorrow for close to the asking price. No asking to view, no questions.
Something about it just doesn't seem right and need some other peoples thoughts!
No, they aren't coming to view it, they want to come and collect it tomorrow!
Thats what is making me dubious, no viewing, no questions.

    What time are they coming?

    Have they paid you yet?
    If so, how?
If not, why are you allowing them to collect the car?

My guess is they are coming to view the car with the intention of buying if it is as described and has no obvious faults.

Whatever the case, don't allow the car to go until you have the cash.

    If that happens, congratulations :T

The prospective purchasr can't be bringing a Bankers Draft with them, as they would need to know the OP's name which, I assume, they don't know yet.

Are people confusing Bankers Draft with Bank Transfer, the later is a perfectly accpetable way to pay for a car, however, in this instace I would be inclined to only accept cash.
Bank transfer certainly isn't safe. The transfer could have been from a phished account, there are lots of scams involving transfers from phished accounts - eg job offers as "payment processors" - see the employment board where some people have been caught by this scam. I'd never accept a bank transfer in payment from someone I didn't know.

Bankers drafts are much safer provided you check with the issuing bank. But for a sum under a thousand I'd probably insist on cash.
